Would he be prepared to come as back up though, even though Cole clearly cannot manage 90 mins on a regular basis? He would get a fair bit of playing time but I get the impression that he has a bit of an ego. It may hinge on whether or not Martinez stays at Wigan
I reckon rodallega is highly overrated..he hasn't scored that many goals to begin with and he hasn't been a regular at wigan for some time now, best left alone that one.

i know a few of these players are a bit older and a few people may think we should be aiming higher but i think all of these guys could do a job for us. ill put them in 2 categories.
Category A Amauri (big target man, a much better version of Carlton Cole both on the floor and in the air) Sulley Muntari (may be the most unrealistic of all but strong midfielder good defensively and going back, great shot and knows the league well) Mathieu Flamini
Category B Per Kroldrup (struggled at everton but think he could be a good experienced squad player and shoudlnt cost too much in wages) Zambrotta

Just toclear something up on the last page, Barton really cannot play in the middle. Wide right or nothing really.

Lets go through this Amauri is a absolute dire, I would rather have Carlton Cole Muntari will/has just joined Ac Milan after being on loan No way is Flamini going to join us

amauri is an absolute quality player who found the going tough at a top club, but you need to remember sometimes things just dont work out. he didnt command a high transfer fee to juventus for nothing, he was a top player and he just need an extended run of things. carlton cole has been a good player for west ham but he isnt the striker that will lead us to safety in the premier league anyone who think that is deluded. there is no sentiment in football and unfortuneately i think a few west ham supporters think cole is such a better player all because what he has been saying, and his commitement to the club (which i dont fault) but still he only managed to score 15 goals in the championship and at times couldnt even hold the ball up

Top player? So were many others years ago, he scored one in thirteen in an average Serie A last year, definitely what we need to keep us up.
Also tons of players do the business at lower Serie A club and then do nothing at bigger clubs or abroad Masscarone, Bianchi etc
I would put tons of money on him not being able to adapt to the Premier League either.
Amauri is absolute pony and I can't believe anybody who has seen him play in the last few years would even suggest him, he's absolute crap

What's your point, could bring out hundreds of players who had a spate of form, Amauri is absolute crap, old, useless, high wages, wouldn't touch with a bargepole, you obviously haven't seen him play if your suggesting him as he is diabolical.

since 2006
amauri has an average of a goal every 3.06 games (all in the first division)
while carlton cole has an average of a goal every 3.75 games (15 of his 48 goals coming in the second division)

im a juventus supporter mate and of italian background. so i know a fair bit about him. as poor as he was at juventus he is still a pretty handy player. now dont get me wrong im not saying his good enough for juventus but we need to remember we have just been promoted from the championship and if we could get a player of amauris caliber, well personally id be pretty happy.

Since 2006? That's six years ago, six years ago Shevchenko was one of the best strikers in the world
One in three in Serie A while playing for top teams, what a record
Cole was playing in a better league, in a weaker team, was only 22 in 2006 as well.
Can't believe your being serious with this, anybody who has seen him play will tell you his dreadful.

also in terms of 'spates of form' i think that sums up carlton cole mate.
09-10 season 30 Premier League appearances, starting 26 of them 10 premier league goal, inc 1 penalty, 6 where in the first 10 matches
in the 10-11 season he scored only 5 premier league goals from 35 appearances, to me thats not good enough especially considering he only contributed 3 assists also

he played at juve while they were struggling, fiorentina this season who finished 13th and parma who are no more then a mid table club.

Really don't know why he would command such a fee. If he was English maybe...

The same Reo-Coker that was wearing the captain's armband on many occasion and played in any position asked of him The same Reo-Coker that joined Bolton and was in such scintillating form that they got relegated? Still one of their best players this seasonThe same Reo-Coker that jumped ship at WH, Villa and Bolton and who's only advantage is that he is a free transfer? Bought for £500k sold for £8 million. Hardly jumped shipped, more walked the plankNo thanks!
Would have him back in a heart-beat. Especially on a free and ESPECIALLY ahead of Barton[/quote] Well here's two sides to every argument but frankly, NRC is a joke player as far as I'm concerned. Sure he's a legend but only in his own mind. Every time I've seen him play on telly in the last few years, he's been poor. For that reason alone we should not consider him.
