Yep just checked and Hines was Jamaican born but naturalised English. Called up for both national youth squads.

Lots of memories brought back reading that list...a few names which on reading them could drain the appetite for life from anyone. Could select an interesting Best XI vs. Worst XI from that lot.

The original article upon which it was based referred to non-British/Irish players, for all those determined to point out every Irishman, Welshman or Scotsman to don the claret and blue.

Nations Represented at West Ham

Postby Hayden on Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:56 am

I was thinking the other day about nations that were represented by West Ham players; both those that had represented their country in football or those that had been born in one of these countries. I thought it'd be a good idea to see if we could put together a comprehensive list... Or not? Any glaring omissions? I'll update as we go...

Image England
Image New Zealand
Image Wales
Image Portugal
Image Ireland
Image Czech Republic
Image France
Image Mexico
Image Finland
Image Scotland
Image Australia
Image Italy
Image Croatia
Image Trinidad & Tobago
Image Argentina
Image United States of America
Image Colombia
Image Israel
Image Senegal
Image Spain
Image Cameroon
Image Sweden
Image Switzerland
Image Denmark
Image Brazil
Image Ghana
Image Paraguay
Image Egypt
Image Belgium
Image Netherlands
Image Norway
Image Northern Ireland
Image Saudi Arabia
Image Hungary
Image Guinea
Image Ivory Coast
Image Romania
Image Jamaica
Image Iceland
Image Slovakia
Image Mali
Image Chile
Image Serbia
Image Congo DR
Image Uruguay
Image Cyprus
Image Nigeria
Image Uganda
Image Peru
Image Bulgaria
Image Germany
Image Costa Rica
Image Bangladesh
Image South Africa
Image Canada
Image Ukraine
Image Bermuda
Image Turkey
Image Angola
Image Sierra Leone
Image New Caledonia
Image Poland
Image Saint Kitts and Nevis

I'm bound to have missed out a few African nations where they went on to play for France etc. Bangladesh isn't strictly true - just that Anwar Uddin is eligible to play for them...

That's brilliant - I never knew that was on here! Thanks UTJ.

I think that may signify the death of this thread haha. Does anyone know of any more nations whereby players were born in THAT country but chose to represent someone else?

Looking at that article reminds me of how much we love or Czech goalkeepers :)

There's a job you just volunteered yourself for Hayden, do an updated version of that article.
