Perhaps they could remove the first few rows of the top tier and fit some boxes there somehow. *or perhaps I should close paint and stop being a wannabe architect*

That would be excellent Mike. 60k seater all one tier would be a dream. Only problem with the design is that is rules out any chance of corporate boxes which means it isn't an option i'm afraid

Just found this, thought i would share. Interesting what 'could' be done. But looking at the outside structure of the olympic stadium... It seems along way away from what you would expect from a newly built stadium without changing the structure.

You cannot see it all in the pic below but full link here http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5389/southgz2.jpg

Now that would be perfect but god, alot would need to be rebuilt to make it work...

with that one below i dont see how those seats could be made retractable or even temporary without rebuilding the whole bottom layer.
but i have faith :?

Of course you have to rebuild (or temporarily build in front of) the lower tier. How do you think its attached to the earth? On runners?

Just one or two things to note. The stands are on a constant curve and the track back-straight isn't.

Extending the stand forward to the track would result in the loss of long jump/triple jump facilities which is an absolute no-no pre 2017, and probably after that unless Athletics want to be bought out. If they want to be bought out post 2017 then accommodating the track is irrelevant anyway. Just one amongst many reasons why extensive retractable seating or forward extension of the stands won't happen. Practicalities and money down the drain.

This is an Athletics stadium.

The wrap looks crap compared to the one they put on in Warsaw.

I was all for the olympic stadium when it first emerged we wanted to take over after the games....

I've been optimistic pretty much the whole way, through the hearn and the scum wanting to move in,business.... Looking at that wrap, the stadium looks awful. If thats the best they can do for a national 'olympic' stadium, then the architect needs to be shot.

The birds nest was a architectual wonder. What do we have? A seemless bowl, with a few bog rolls draped around the edge.

I am very very disapointed in what this stadium will finally look like once complete.

Ashamed & delusioned.
