Away Fans + Day Trippers @ the OS (in the LOWER TIER!!)

Post by WestHamIFC »

I've read some very disturbing stuff recently which suggests the club are actually contemplating the accommodation of opposition supporters in the LOWER TIER at the OS!!

This would be mind-bogglingly stupid, even by West Ham standards.

It's well-known that with few exceptions, the Lower Tier tickets, closest to the pitch will be the most highly sought-after. Given that there's apparently only going to be 19,000 Lower Tier seats available, would the club really be so retarded as to not address the home support demand first, before even thinking about away fans??

I'm a Lower Tier STH @ The Boleyn, and this would be the tipping point for me. If I don't get a Lower Tier seat @ the OS, I'm not going at all. It's as simple as that.

Quite apart from anything else, why would you even wish to disadvantage your own team @ home by putting rival fans as close as they possibly can be to the pitchside??

Put your home fans first and for the away support stick 'em in a Corner of the Top Tier, where they can be the least bothersome and effective:

What have been saying . Shove them up in the gods and away from the action

Up to 8000 away fans behind the goal crazy.

Still we will all be wearing half and half scarves soon so it won't matter.

Is that the same gods away from the action that thousands of our supporters will be sitting, along with their binoculars.

Sadly yes. The club should be accomodating our fans first and giving them the best seat options before even thinking about sorting out the away fans.

Don't forget the Premier League rules mean that they are not allowed to be charged more than home fans in comparable seats.
Effectively they have to be in the cheapest seats available.
At the Boleyn this behind the goal, lower tier.
At the OS I doubt very much this will be the case.

Screwed either way.

Like you I'm BML and won't go if I can't STAND in the lower tier

At the same time, sticking away fans up in the gods will make the atmosphere even sh*tter. But I'd be incensed if they got lower tier at the expense of season ticket holders/those who currently are lower at Boleyn

I think we have around 23,000 STHs?

Admittedly some STHs may prefer being in the Upper Tier, but it's possible the club won't even be able to accommodate the STH demand for the 19,000 Lower Tier spaces, let alone any other WH fans including members!

Letting Away fans down there would really beggar belief..

Incorrect mate, you can put away supporters where you want, but can't charge them more than you would home fans within the same stand / section.
At places like Villa away supporters aren't in the cheap seats.

I agree. Give them the same treatment we get at Newcastle where you need an oxygen mask to breath as the airs so thin up in the away section and the players look like ants on a Subbuteo pitch.

I think having the away fans as far up as possible from the pitch stops us having to watch opposition players celebrating a goal/win with their fans too.

I still think the away fans will be behind the goal because of segregation, there are no concourses on the upper tier so they will not want them sharing concourses with the fans below them, it will be easier to isolate them behind the goal as there will be no fans behind to share the concourse with, I hope the club has a way of solving this and puts them high in a corner.

They 100% will, planning permission shows it...

Putting them in relatively the same position as we do now.

Lower tier will be in much higher demand than present.

With the gap between the Upper and Lower tier it will need to be a decent shot!
Joking aside they will be split between the Upper and Lower anyway, plenty of clubs have supporters in the upper tier and incidents are few and far between.

Do you mean home fans in the upper with away in lower, or away fans in both upper and lower ?

I reckon the away support will be in both upper and lower tier.
The planning documents only show the lower tier when showing the different allocations though so who knows.

I suppose from a sales point of view, they will first sell in the lower tier first for a guaranteed sale of a more expensive ticket then expand across then up to the season ticket areas depending upon demand.
Rather that sell season tickets at reduced rates in the area.
I know you say that coin incidents are few and far between but it's probably not worth the risk in the club and polices opinion.

Where is the away support at old trafford and the emirates, two of the most sought after tickets in the premiership, not in the upper tiers, not sure why but there must be a reason for this.
