Swansea 1-1 West Ham Utd (10/01/15)
Putting this up now as i need the URL for the home page
Be nice to bounce back with a win - hopefully against a Bony-less Swansea.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Andy Carroll tends to enjoy this fixture.
Bony is at the ACON anyway, so im confident we can go there and get 3 points

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I reckon we can grab the 3 points there, especially with Song and Noble in midfield and the big man up top. Carroll is to them what Lukaku is to us it seems. If it's true that Bony is off to Citeh then that spells the end of any European hopes they might have had as well. I'd go with:
------------------------------Adrian--------------------------------
Jenks------------Tonks------------Reid------------Cresswell
-------------------------------Song--------------------------------
----------------Nobes--------------------Downing--------------
Amalfitano----------------------------------------------Jarvis
----------------------------Carroll---------------------------------
Think Jarvis did enough tonight to earn himself a start, otherwise drop Amalfitano back into the midfield and stick Valencia up with Carroll.

Jenkinson.......Collins...........Reid.........Cresswell

I can't see how we can pick anything other than this team. Impossible to drop Collins or Reid after last night.
I really want to see Valencia up front with Carroll. I know we saw it at Stamford Bridge but that was a difficult game to judge how effective their partnership could be. I think they could compliment eachother very well.
I think we'll win this one. 1-2. COYI.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
This one is Carroll's game. They clearly have a mental block with him, just as we do with Lukaku.
Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Their home record is no better than ours - if we attack we can win. But I sense that we are struggling to create , let alone take chances at the moment - so 1-1.
Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Am I right in saying then it's now Bony, Shelvey, and Ki missing now for them or is it more ?
I know it was meant to be Routelege but he got the red overturned.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I'm glad we dont rely on one player like they do with Bony, he will be a huge miss for them. I thought we knocked it about nicely especially first half, Amalfitano looked so classy again so he is a must start. I'm not a Nolan basher and I admire his effort but he just looked so off the pace last night. Jarvis showed glimpses of good play and he is obviously a confidence player so maybe he can find some form with a run of games during AFCON. I fancy 1-0 hammers!

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Song and Noble starting every attack off from deep will massively help us out. Think Valencia and Carroll can work well as a pair too.
Really hope that away from home Sam avoids temptation to play Carroll up top with Downing and Valencia as wingers and Nolan in the hole! But something tells me he will.
Nolan really needs to be rested for this game. He was blowing out of his arris for a large part of the 2nd half (and the 1st if truth be told) and we do not exactly lack leaders on the pitch with Song, Noble, Collins and Reid all playing (assume they will). There is no justification to play him.
I think Nolan still has a part to play in the squad but he cannot command a starting place with these performances any more.

Fully expect...
---------------------Adrian----------------
Jenkinson--Reid--Collins--Cresswell
-------------------Noble------------------
---------Song-----------Amalfitano---
---------------Downing-----------------
---Valencia--------------Carroll------
Tomkins still our best CB to partner Reid imo but Collins has earned his place to stay in after a decent performance against Everton.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Personally felt he left him on last night and took the others off to keep them fresh as Nolan would be dropping to the bench.sutts07 wrote:

Didn't pay off on the night sadly.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I jest, I jest.
Just poking fun at his performance last night. I know I don't rate him very much but I also know he had a particularly off night last night.
Every player has them.
The important thing is he is mollycoddled back into the team.
The kids were dropped for less in our last FA Cup game.
As for the line up, Valencia Carroll up top. Noble, Amalfitano, Song, Downing in midfield. Keep Collins in the side, Tomkins will have to wait.

Re: Swansea vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Definitely want Carroll to play against Swansea.
I seriously think we've the players they are missing, and with the way we played last night, we will win this.
Actually quite confident. They haven't beaten us on 5 games and it's no surprise.
That team Wizzo has put up looks very good to me.
