West Ham Utd 1-1 Manchester Utd (08/02/15)
West Ham United v Manchester United
Sunday 8th February 2015
The Boleyn Ground
Kick Off: 16:15
Now is not a time for fancy graphics, now is a time for optimism and pride.
Let's batter this lot before two away games against Southampton and Tottenham in the league and away to West Brom in the cup. Not at home again for 20 days when we play Palace. three points here for the taking if we play the way we know they can.
CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
I'm assuming we won't have Tomkins, Collins, Reid , Kouyate or Jenkinson fit for this .
On that basis we may see a strange selection, and while I'm tempted to give Oxford a game , prudence suggests the opposition may be a bit too much for him at this stage .
----------------------------------Adrian-------------------------------
Demel------------Song------------O'Brien---------Cresswell
--------------------------------Noble--------------------------------
--------------Nolan------------------------Amalfitano----------
----------------------------Downing-------------------------------
----------------Carroll-----------------Sakho--------------------
More a case of take cover than charge I'm afraid .

Nolan & Carroll are players set on stone on our team sheet. Hopefully this Sakho situation will get resolved soon. Stick Stuart in the hole will you Sam ffs. Drop your Kevin fetish in that position as he adds nothing there.

In isolation, he's average at it. Most managers he's played for have commented on his inability as a holding midfielder.bubbles1966 wrote:

With our squad, particularly Noble and Song you want to get the best out of both of them. Noble has to be the further back with Song pressing higher up the pitch.
Our best football this season saw Song winning the ball in the final third, not in our own half.

Re: West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread
Dread dread dread.
Really feel our defense will be piecemeal, and their attack will walk through our back line. I usually back us to be tough to beat, but I think we're on a downward trajectory at the moment. Our midfield isn't shielding the back four, we don't have width without our full backs - who will definitely be pinned back dealing with their wing/forwards - and we will probably only have Valencia isolated up top, running into defenders and losing the ball. All the while Kevin Nolan will run in the space where the ball used to be.
It pains me to say it, but I only see a 3-0 to the Mancs.
If we get a voodoo priest, sacrifice a goat and get some people fit, then maybe we can squeak out a draw.

If we play a similar team to Man City/Liverpol at home then the minimal we will get is a point.
If we play a similar team to the one yesterday we lose.
Simple as that

Don't doubt the strength of that assumption, but that's a worrying defensive injury crisis coinciding with a visit from Man United.

IF we are due a "defensive crisis" then Roger Johnson speaks very highly of us.....
