I'm struggling to understand how he would see how well we did in the early part of the season, hear the plaudits of the football press (which has been in plentiful supply). Even wax lyrical in post match interviews about the benefit of Downing in the middle, then move away from that formation back, to all intents and purposes, to the style that caused the board to give him an ultimatum at the end of last season.whizzer wrote: Don't agree with that mate, Sam is a professional who is more than aware that without success he's CV takes a battering. I genuinely believe that he is doing what he thinks is best and trusts his own judgement, probably looks down at the porn dwarfs and thinks to himself that they haven't got a clue what they are talking about.
Still, I'm not too bothered about the last window, dodged a few bullets and kept our 1st team squad together.
I understand that he has had to play Carroll, and I agree that the opportunity to play Sakho and Valencia has not been as possible as some people have suggested. What makes things worse for me is that in the games that he has started with Downing out wide, he has had to move him inside to impact the game, yet he continues to do it. It just makes no sense.
