The 2016 summer transfer thread
With all the news about Chinese clubs and Lady Brady spouting off, I think its a good time to open discussion on potential summer recruitment.
Last Brady indicated we would buy a 20million plus striker this summer

Is anybody else concerned that a £20m striker this summer is not what we'd think a £20m striker is due to the increase in TV money?

He had a bit of a stinker in front of goal last night but I'd have him here no problem.
Maybe we've all ready tapped him up.

Sakho, Carroll and Valencia all need replacing so it's just a matter of determining which one goes first.
Sakho is the main striker who doesn't give us 20 goals and Carroll isn't reliable enough with his fitness to be called upon when needed. Valencia is just...Valencia

I'd like batshuayi, Tore, and a backup creative attacking midfielder that is equally happy playing wide or centrally.
Overall, I'd like more polish and less rawness this time round. Time to start adding quality and technical ability to the energy and work-rate we already have.

Why £20m?
Should we offer £20m for any striker that tickles our fancy?
I wonder if Celtic would be willing to part company with Carlton Cole?

I'd offer Manchester City £22m for Wilfried Bony and £35m for the Marseilles striker .

I imagine the title was meant to say £20m plus striker? that was my take on it anyway.sendô wrote:Why £20m?

Stoke City have just spent £18m on a player! we are a bigger club with more money than them, so if we are serious about this next level especially with our move to the OS next year, we need to be spending this amount on one player not having £20m as our whole budget ( like in previous seasons ) so we can keep ahead of the competition and progress our club forward.

Could only find 3 attackers around the 20 Mil mark signed this season. Rondon, Niasse and Mitrovic.
Not sure they would be the answer.

Re: A £20 million striker: The summer transfer thread
Where has this figure of £20m come from? I know 20 goals a season was mentioned, but nothing about the monetary value of the striker?
I haven't a clue who we might go for; i just hope for once its a genuine 20 goal a season a striker. Could make a massive difference to us.

I agree 100% imagine our exact team we have had now this season but with Lukaku leading our line we would be in the top 4 spots right now I have no doubts about that.Where is our Lukaku he is out there somewhere and he won't be cheap either.

Re: A £20 million striker: The summer transfer thread
£20 m is the benchmark for a decent striker, but never guarantees 20 goals. For that you need a lot of luck or a lot of doe.
Let's have a list of 18m + plus strikers, signed in the last 2 seasons that have failed to score anywhere near 20+ goals.
