Re: Close to a Full House?
On his Twitter account today
“Yes, we have applied for permission to extend the capacity from 54000 to 60000 in an effort to meet demand. dg ”
Re: Close to a Full House?
I think how well we have done this season has helped a lot with ticket sales.
But David Gold has confirmed that they have applied for 60k, which is mad as most didn't think we would fill 54k.

Re: Close to a Full House?
If this news that we've applied to raise the capacity to 60,000 is true, does anyone have any idea of how long that process might take? Would it be more likely in time for next season or the season after?

Re: Close to a Full House?
Would almost certainly be for next season already as it should be a fairly straightforward administrative procedure. The seats are already in there, the facilities (toilets and food outlets for 60K spectators) as well.
They'd probably need a few more matchday stewards due to the increased capacity, but I would expect this to go through pretty smoothly...

Re: Close to a Full House?
There is no way (past maybe the first season) that we will sell 60,000 tickets week in week out. Where on earth are we finding an extra 25,000 fans from!?jamine16 wrote:I think how well we have done this season has helped a lot with ticket sales.

Re: Close to a Full House?
Nearly 20,000 of them will be new Season Ticket holders ..... and many of those 6000 new seats should be Band 5 - affordable football.Knighter10WHU wrote:Where on earth are we finding an extra 25,000 fans from!?

Re: Close to a Full House?
We've already 'found' most of that number as has already been well-documented on this forum.Knighter10WHU wrote:

The +2's and those who've paid £10 to be on the Season Ticket waiting list pretty much covers it.
The number of Match Day Tickets available @ the OS will actually be far less than currently @ The Boleyn, such is the demand for STs!

Re: Close to a Full House?
I popped into the reservation centre yesterday and there was very little selection left. 38,000 season tickets have been sold so far (according to the guy in there, anyway).

Re: Close to a Full House?
To be fair, provided it was priced and marketed well the first season was always extremely likely to sell out. The question will be future seasons, how much demand is due to wanting to be there for the first season and how many will keep coming. Dependent on success I guess for some, others will hopefully get the bug.
Re: Close to a Full House?
Boleyn (35,000): 25,000 ST + under 2000 Away = 8000 approx for match day sale.WestHamIFC wrote:The number of Match Day Tickets available @ the OS will actually be far less than currently @ The Boleyn, such is the demand for STs!
OS (60,000): 43,000 ST + 3000 Away = 14,000 approx for match day sale and a few freebies for Newham.
So there should be more Match Day tickets available.

Re: Close to a Full House?
I can't for the life of me understand why 20,000 people suddenly want to start getting a Season Ticket but didn't before. A few thousand maybe but 20,000 is a seriously high number, it's not far off doubling our season ticket holders.bengeo wrote:

Re: Close to a Full House?
I paid £150 for 2 tickets for West Ham vs Liverpool. I paid £289 for 19 games at the OS - that's what swung it for me and I imagine the same is true of a lot of people. But yeah, 20,000 is a lot.Knighter10WHU wrote:I can't for the life of me understand why 20,000 people suddenly want to start getting a Season Ticket but didn't before. Maybe also the fact that Sam and his boring, inane style of football is no long there plays a part in the increased number of tickets sold.EugeneSpeed wrote:

Re: Close to a Full House?
Most people I know that are getting tickets again after a long time without going are doing so because it's now easier to get there/back.

Re: Close to a Full House?
But, excluding the new Band 5 section, the majority of the other season tickets are not too dissimilar (price wise) to at UP, granted they are all slightly cheaper. Match day ticket prices have been that high for a couple of years now. I do get your point and fair play to you because that is a great saving but 20,000 to me just seems astronomically high - I'm not sure I believe the club, nor do I believe that we will need the 60,000 capacity.EugeneSpeed wrote:

I just hope we don't get 2-3 years down the line and are playing in front of 40,000 on average every week in a 60,000 seater stadium.

Re: Close to a Full House?
The configuration allows though to scale back down again easily without having too much of an effect on the look of the crowd during games. Lets say we go up to 65K or even 70K due to high demand.
They will simply add some seats near the back rows of the upper tier, mainly behind the goals, probably some more in the gaps between Upper and Lower tier.
Should demand then go down again due to a bad season on the pitch and we only sell 40K tickets for most games we will simply put a tarpaulin over the back rows not needed in the Upper Tier and the ground will still look reasonably full even with 40K people in there.
In truth though I reckon we will see regular attendances of 50K for our games in the OS, especially if they keep the ticket pricing sensible.

Re: Close to a Full House?
OK thanks. I read somewhere is was more like this:bengeo wrote:

OS (60,000): 43,000 ST + 3000 Away = 14,000 approx for match day sale and a few freebies for Newham.
So there should be more Match Day tickets available.
Boleyn (35,000): 20,000 ST + 3,000 Away = 12,000 approx for match day
OS (54,000): 40,000 ST + 5,000 Away = 9,000 approx for match day
..but happy to stand corrected!
