what you will miss and wont miss about The Boleyn Ground
Have been thinking about this over the last few visits, so list one thing you will miss and one thing you won't miss.
Will miss going to Kens Cafe!
Won't miss the toilets in the Betway lower.

Reason: Calling the ground by its wrong name, in thread title, only thing I won't miss!!!

Re: what you will miss and wont miss about Upton Park
Something which has never struck me until just this moment is that I missed going into the old portakabin club shop. It was dark and you had to scour the entire place to see what was on offer. There would be things like random photos of Steve Jones or Danny Williamson for sale. I remember it being quite dark which made the place seem more like an Aladdin's cave.
I think I will miss the walk up from Upton Park tube for evening games with 1000s of other West Ham fans all walking in the same direction towards the Boleyn.
I think most of us will say that we won't miss the hassle of trying to get home.

Won't miss them boiled cheeseburgers, was p*ssing out my bum all day Sunday
Will miss every little detail of everything else, especially them roast baguettes outside sir Trev that you can pour a bucket of Bramley sauce over.

I will miss the routine of it, walking down with the fans from the station, grabbing a burger, going in for a few beers and chatting to some regulars before the game. Also the familiarity of everything, from the pubs to inside the ground, the buzz of the place.
Definitely will not miss how hard it can be to get home, or the toilet queue at half time.

It will be quicker to get on a train at Upton Park this season than the route march they will send your on if you are trying to get to Stratford next.
I won't missed getting chucked out of my ST seat for cup games
I will miss everything else.

Will miss the night games - how the stadium looks under floodlights. Will also miss how the stadium looks when empty, after all have left.
Will not miss the Upton Park queue, people deciding that 4.45 on a Saturday is a desirable time to go for a drive down Green Street. I also hope that the queues at bars at the new place will facilitate quicker service - the STBL having one bar, for example.

Everything about match days, I am 57 soon and still get the same buzz walking down Green Street to a match that I did on Sept 9th 1970 for my first game as an 11 year old.

Being able to be on the platform of a tube station (East Ham) with a 20 minute journey home, 15 minutes after leaving my seat at the final whistle.

I will miss the walk down Green Street before the game. The stroll through the shopping area in Stratford won't be the same I suspect.
I wont miss the Upton Park queue, although it's always a convenient excuse to pop into the Queens for a couple.

I won't miss the choices in the local pubs being, primarily, Fosters, Strongbow, and John Smiths.
I will miss the bar staff not being yuppies charging £5 for a super duper IPA double hop madness.
When did a pint of bitter go out of fashion?

It didnt, plenty of decent bitter currently available in the Black Lion.HitzlspergersBurgers wrote:I won't miss the choices in the local pubs being, primarily, Fosters, Strongbow, and John Smiths.

Also had a very decent pint of bitter in Tap East only yesterday, and it cost a reasonable £3.30.
Pubs around Upton park, and the beer in the ground are generally shocking.

Always loved the Black Lion; usually offer a lovely pint of Broadside. Never tried Tap East, but I have had a drink in the Bat and Ball, some sort of ping pong bar in Westfield. A few nice beers there.mushy wrote: It didnt, plenty of decent bitter currently available in the Black Lion.

Re: what you will miss and wont miss about The Boleyn Ground
A lot of peeps are mentioning the walk down Green Street....I mentioned somewhere on another thread recently....the more I go on away days, the more I realise just how special that street atmosphere is on match days and nights. Nowhere else matches it.
Will really miss the feeling I'm at home.
Will miss the view from the front of STBU
