Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
If Cresswell and Carroll are both fit then they go straight into the starting eleven. I'd also drop Adrian and Tore for Randolph and Feghouli.
Randy.
Arbeloa, Reid, Ginge, Cressie.
Noble, Koyuate.
Antonio, Payet, Feghouli.
Carroll.
Should be capable of a point.

Who in midfield is giving the back 4 protection? Unfortunately one of the midfield will have to be dropped for a DM as we are shipping goals left right and centre without one.simon hammer wrote:If Cresswell and Carroll are both fit then they go straight into the starting eleven. Deeply frustrating that we will face a striker in Benteke that we should have tried to get. We have taken several punts this past window while Palace have played it simple and gone with proven premier league goal scorers - Benteke, Remy, Wickham and Campbell. Four excellent options which totally trump our front line options.

They drew on fridayPuff Daddy wrote:I dont buy these gloomy forecasts for us in this fixture. I know we are pants right now, but this game is two full weeks away. History suggests Selhurst Park is a happy hunting ground for us and traditionally, we fare well here and as we all know, Pards gets his points in pockets. Just as he go's on a winning streak, he then go's on a long losing streak and right now, he is on a winning streak , but we all know, that winning streak is going to end soon
Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
this is a game I believe Collins will step up for and nullify benteke - he seems to do it against the big strikers and managers to keep them at bay, praying he has one of those games against palace otherwise you just know Beneteke will score a hat trick because people said he wasn't good enough for us, now we have Zaza and Calleri.

Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
That's my prediction too. I think we will see a much improved performance from us in this match and probably, our best of the season so far. I just have this strong feeling with us leading 2-1, we concede a hotly disputed equaliser right at the death. That what happened to teams at the foot of the table .ballantine wrote:-----------------------Adrian-----------------

Benteke is the only one that is a better option than any of Carroll, Sakho and Ayew.ironilunga wrote:Benteke, Remy, Wickham and Campbell
Remy has done nothing in England outside of an impressive stint with the Geordies and Campbell/Wickham have Premier League records that match Enner Valencia.

Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
I'm a strange mixture of terrified and strangely confident.
Terrified because, well, that doesn't really need an explanation.
Strangely confident because:
1) We're away. That means a few things for me - smaller pitch (our players aren't fit enough for a 105m x 68m pitch yet obviously). The players (and fans) can get a break from the OS in general (we're fragile at home, clearly). Honestly, if we had the option to play our next 5 games away I'd take that in a heaertbeat.
2) We're clear underdogs. In the games this season (and last) where we've been clear underdogs (Chelsea and City) we were hyped up and actually gave it a proper go and were unfortunate not to get a result. I have a feeling we will actually turn up for this game.
3) Cresswell should be available from what i see on twitter.
4) If we win this, it would be a huge confidence boost and i believe it would genuinely kickstart our season. So it's more than just 3 points up for grabs here and the players probably recognise that too, which will hopefully inject some life into them.
5) The inclusion of Obiang has succeeded in stopping the rot or slowing it down or whatever. Off the back of that we have 13 days to prepare for this which means improved fitness and more focus.
..................Adrian
Arbeloa...Reid...Ogbonna...Creswell (if Cresswell is ready, if not then Ogbonna LB and Collins CB)
.........OBIANG...Lanzini
Feghouli....................Payet
..........Antonio....Zaza (Antonio either up top alongside Zaza or just behind, providing support)
I know we won't see this lineup but I'd like it.
We have to give this one a good go, stick two up top and gung-ho it like last season. If we give them too much respect they will punish us. If we sit back and try to soak up the pressure they will punish us. We have to attack them with everything we have otherwise we sit back and defend and concede inevitable goals over the 90 mins.
I think we can nab this one.

Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
Reid played well in Ogbonna's spot on Saturday, as he usually does - for whatever reason he's better on the left side. It's a low bar, but it was probably the best performance from one of our CBs this season.
Which might cause a small problem if Cresswell comes back - Ogbonna is a better player than Collins, but including him moves Reid back to where he's generally less effective.
Obviously Obiang has to start.
Arbeloa, Reid/Collins, Ogbonna and Cresswell with Obiang in front certainly on paper looks a bit more capable of keeping things in check than any combo we've managed to put out this season. Grounds for a small amount of optimism.

5 at the back for this one .
Their main threat will be set pieces , all week we should be working on defending corners, throws in our half against us and crosses from deep into our box .
Respect the point , recognise the reality where we are .

I can see Tomkins getting sent off for showing Slav his arse after scoring the winner in the 89th minute.
