In case your on here - thanks to the blokes at Thornton Heath after the game for your help when a bloke was trying to push my son off the train on Saturday.
Total twat of a bloke with no b8llocks - at least he apologised some time later - I had the choice of letting go of my boy or twatting the bloke
It's not that important. Always nice to keep those kind of passes to a minimum, but as long as we keep possession and eventually move forward, that's the main thing.
The 16 pass move that led to our superb winning goal against Palace as a case in point. A number of passes that went backwards and sideways, as they did going forwards.

Rio said in his book that when he went to Man United the philosophy was always to pass forwards and backwards passes were viewed as the easy way out. Something I agree with.
That's all well and good when you are surrounded by many of the best players around you, not so easy when Noble has had to rely on the players surrounding him down the years by comparison.
I'd rather Noble keeps his pass completion rate high, than increasing the passes going forward.
Actually, I'd rather Noble keeps the time spent with ball at feet to as few seconds as possible, than a high pass completion rate, or passes forward. That would improve his game.
I believe that around 50% of Mark's passes are first touches
Regardless of the height or speed the ball reaches him he seems to have a knack of laying it off first time where applicable helped by his awareness (constantly checking around him) of who is where..

Agree with that, he's generally got a great first time pass on him and awareness.
Maybe I'm being overly grouchy but I'm finding the stream of social media posts coming out from the club about how much effort we put in on Saturday a tad annoying. Effort should be a given. That it's taken til the eighth game of the season for the players to put in a performance worthy of such recognition is not something we should be shouting from the rooftops.
Couldn't agree more James P
If they are making such a fuss about it, it concerns me that there is an implicit recognition that effort was lacking in the other games which, is frankly, unacceptable
Well, it's because they want to avoid having to say the changearound was due to improved tactics, because that will beg the question of why did it take so long.
