if anyone wants some ew horses for today at Cheltenham

4.10 Village Vic 16/1. Has top form round Cheltenham, trip is bang on. Probably too much weight to win, but should give you a great run for that price and good each way shout. Some bookie so paying 5 places.

5.30 Hadrians Approach. 16/1. well weighted, trip good, trainer in top form.

-1pts (-1.10)

A red card tightened the Czech game up, but Rijeka should have added another couple to their 2 goal tally, missing a series of sitters in the second half, including hitting the post with an unmarked header from inside the 6yd box! Atletico Madrid - the most boring team on the planet - failed to score in a drab game, whilst the shout for Monaco to score in both halves was absolutely bang on as their form for 3.5 match goals goes on this season.

KUMB Pick

Cheltenham Gold Cup [3.30 Friday]

Cue Card - 4 point win @ 5/1
This horse goes into this race as the highest rated one in the field. His recent form is outstanding, a 15 length win v Coneygree who we all know how good he is [when not injured!], loss in 2nd to the mighty Thistlecrack but then had an excellent win as a warm up for this. Last year, Cue Card would probably have won if he didn't fall. He loves this track and is surely due the Gold cup he deserves. I'm not overly convinced by Djakadam or Native River when up against a horse of Cue Card's calibre.

Tea for Two - 0.5 point EW @80/1
I've always been impressed by this horse and Lizzie Kelly takes the ride. The stable had a winner earlier in the week in Flying Tiger which is a small good sign. He only finished 3 and a half lengths behind Thistlecrack in the King George and then easily won a trial run for this. This is a long shot but I think it's vastly overpriced, I was expecting more like 33/1. I think it definitely has a chance to place and 80/1 is silly.

If only 1 bet is allowed for the KUMB pick disregard the Tea for Two and up Cue Card to max stake

With regard to the Tea for Two tip, it's worth mentioning that both SkyBet and Paddy Power are paying 4 places on the each way for the Gold Cup.

Not a bad Heinz part-win yesterday.

4 winners, 1 place, 1 lose.

So close the full 6k+ though, but can't complain!

Bit hard to tell as I dont know which ones are 1/4 the odds and which are 1/5 th, but you are looking at just short of £700 I think.

Yeah, was about £700.

Not too shabby again today on my Heinz. If they all came in, would have been 95k lol.

2 Winners, 2 placed, 2 lost.. Ended up with a £2 loss.

2.40 Kempton - TOP TUG e/w @ 16/1

He has been placed 7 in his last 9 races showing consistency. The earlier of these were on the flat where he used to race in class 2 handicaps reaching a high mark of 100 showing he clearly has class.

Alan King the trainer has had some very very useful hurdlers this season with 76 hurdle wins from 285 runs, strike rate of 27%.

This is only his 2nd handicap race, he was arguably a little disappointing last time out coming third at Taunton, however he was behind Bertimont who was good enough to race in a Champion Hurdle in years gone by and Tommy Silver another good horse. The thing I note here though is the difference in prize money, this Taunton race was worth half the money as this race tomorrow at Kempton.

Top Tug has raced at Kempton three times in the past - 1st and close 2nd on the flat and more importantly he won his first novice hurdle race here cruising to a 4l victory. Good course form, who knows perhaps he feels at home here?

If the horse can handle the step up in trip, he has a real live chance and at 16/1 quarter odds is surely worth an each way bet.

Netted a e/w treble today. £10 e/w stake netted me £322. Made it a decent festival in the end!

-5pts (-5.4)

Big hit to the bank as Cue Card fell again at the same fence as last year, but unlike the last trip he looked all but beaten and well out of it.
