Re: Andy Carroll
Just think how good the last 2 seasons really could of been if our 2 centre forwards had proper appearance levels.... Sakho is as bad as Carroll.
They are 2 really good forwards but with a bad appearance level.
Its now time to move on.....and I am one that thinks Carroll is unplayable.

Re: Andy Carroll
If he won't go to China then he's an idiot.
He's been no-where near an England cap in the five years since he's been with us. One call up from memory where he had to withdraw through injury.
We aren't a club that look capable of winning in the trophies in the near future so I feel he's being offered £200-300k per week to free then unless you are a top, top player and thus wasting your career then it's a no-brainer.
A crazy amount of money, life changing for him and his family plus a chance to experience a different culture and no doubt live like a king.
Maybe the club need to hire those two fellas on motorbikes with a shooter again to encourage him...

Makes him an idiot for not wanting to move his young son and Mrs away from her family and friends halfway across the world?Roby wrote:If he won't go to China then he's an idiot.

Geezer probably earns close to 100 bags a week surrounded by his mates and bird who has everything they'll ever need over here.
They're not robots you can stick on a cargo ship overseas.

I expect most 'Western' footballers who play over there don't have their families with them
Go and play for a year, earn loads of dough, fly home fairly regularly during the season

Re: Andy Carroll
Thing is the club know what both Carroll and Sakho are like and window after window we don't sign adequate replacements. Being linked with Jermain Defoe (who I rate highly) says everything about the transfer strategy at the club right now

Re: Andy Carroll
Ask any football fan from a team in the prem if they would want their team to spend 10-15 million pound on Andy Carroll, and id bet the number saying yes would be very close to 0.
No one is saying he isn't a top striker on his day, but unfortunately them days are about 5 a season max.

Re: Andy Carroll
I don't really know why we'd want to sell Carroll. He's a massive asset as long as he's not the striker you are relying on the most. If we were to get Batshuiyi (for example) and Defoe this summer, then we would be able to actually rotate our strikers and perhaps have some available when Carroll is inevitably unavailable.
I'd love to be able to start a game with either of Bathsuiyi or Defoe, with the option of bringing Carroll on.
Carroll leaving does not solve anything. We have the money available to pay for both a transfer fee for a striker and their salary without having to sell him. If an offer comes in then it can be discussed, but Carroll is not the problem at West Ham, the fact that he is the only capable striker willing to don the shirt is.

Re: Andy Carroll
Who would we replace him with? Who would this club sign who would score 10 goals a season? Carroll near enough manages that in half a season or so.

Carroll out again and on 100k a week I actually fee for our owners paying the waste of space carthorse.
Flog to china or newcastle just get rid.
No way will sakho start against everton. He will not be fit enough played 2 games this season !
we need two new strikers for next season.
tomorrow play fletcher and ayew

Precisely. And as TTS said, selling Carroll doesn't solve any problems.
Get in at least one other capable/reliable striker, a fit Carroll is just a bonus.

Re: Andy Carroll
So sell a player that we have already paid for and who takes up around £5.5m per year in wages and replace with someone better? He's got 7 in 17 this year in the Premier League, that's not good enough, but we all knew that we would only get around 15 - 20 games out of him as that's all he can manage. Personally, I can cope with that as he was bought in to keep us in the division when we were a much poorer side. He did that and now we're moving forward, but getting rid of him doesn't solve anything.hammerman11 wrote:Carroll out again and on 100k a week I actually fee for our owners paying the waste of space carthorse.

Who could we buy that would cost us less than £5.5m per season and we could get for what we sell Carroll for?
We need to sell/give away Sakho, because he doesn't want to play for us. That's pointless...but having a player like Carroll in our squad is never going to be a bad thing.

Re: Andy Carroll
I think that looks like a dreadful return when you hide the number of appearances he's made. People want Callum Wilson for 25m, Shane Long for 10m plus, look at their goals to games ratios in the Prem. Look at Troy Deeney's goals from open play ratio in the Prem.DDHammer wrote:Carroll last 10 years Prem goals:

Re: Andy Carroll
Makes no odds anyway. The fact of the matter is, no other team in the prem will pay him anywhere close to 75 grand. So its irrelevant. The sad part is that it affects our ability to fund a quality striker who can play/score regularly in his absence.

In the Premier League for us - 30 goals in 97 games, many of which weren't starts. His return, when he plays, is good, it's just he doesn't play nearly enough.
