Not followed it for a while now. Went through a period when I was younger of loving it. Had a skiing trip to Canada in 2006, then NHL 2006 came out and at the time Miracle was my favourite film! Used to love Calgary Flame, no idea how they get on these days and couldn't name a player but did always think it was a great game. If you can name me some Calgary Flame players from around the time that might jog the memory!

Calgary one of the better stories of the season. They've been very under the radar but with good coaching and a solid mix of youth and experience they've over-achieved.

Anyone but Rangers, Pens, and Habs.

My Islanders missed the playoffs by an inch.

There are 500 Islander fans left on the planet and one of them posts on kumb! What are the odds?

No Pens and no Caps for me. Bruins, Blackhawks and Habs close behind. I'm a Ranger fan but would be surprised if we make it out of the first round. Lundqvist can cover up only so many warts and we have some real holes among our d-men. Don't love the coach either.

Blackhawks down.
Bruins and Caps having problems. Habs on the brink.
Not a bad start, except for the Pens.

Feel like it's the end of the era for the Hawks though

If it is ending, not a bad era.

Rangers should have hired Quenneville before he went to Chicago. He's a local product from Connecticut and would have been a good fit. Instead Sather went for a crony from the Edmonton Old Boy Country Club and we had to endure meek and mild reign of Tom Renney.

Looked at the ice hockey world championship squads and wasn't overly impressed with the USA squad.

Are they fielding a young or weakened squad? Or is it a decent squad and I know nothing? :?

It's a very young squad (looks like no one born before 1990 on it). But it is decent. USA leadership got hammered for taking all the old boys to the World Cup of Hockey and rightly so. That team was slow, focused only on grinding and unmotivated.

That and the younger guys aren't too smashed up to play right now.

I have no personal stake in the last 4 but am angling for a Predators v Sens final.

1) Would be so great to have 2 teams in the final who haven't been there in a while....or ever.

2) Peter Laviolette is a hero-
