I'm still trying to work out what they used to think Skinheads were going to do with the boot laces.
Was there a lot of lasso related violence in the 70s?

The searches really are a token gesture.
I know how to search people properly from the day job and its nowhere near what the security do on a match day.
Its just to cover for insurance no doubt.

They're working on a prototype that detects flags that have nasty things about Karren Brady written on them.Pop Robson wrote:Do they only use the wands on ladies and kids ?

You was lucky if it was just the laces... a lot of times the OB would take the boots!!

We're lucky they didn't build a new ground or that's probably what it would have liked like.
Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
What's the best way of getting to Marylebone after the game please? I usually just walk back to my brother's in Hackney so no experience of using the overground/tubes on a matchday. Not a Londoner either, I'm afraid. Also, I NEVER do this, but how much of an advantage would I get leaving 5 mins early if we're getting tonked?
Cheers!

Walk to Hackney wick station, Overground to Highbury and Islington, change for the Victoria Line to Oxford circus, then Bakerloo line to Marylebone, the walk to Hackney wick is 10/15mins depending where you are in the stadium and train journey is about 30mins.
5mins early if we are getting tonked is no advantage, half the stadium would have left by then! Hackney Wick is not too bad getting on a train and usually not a big queue.

The best way is central line to Oxford Circus then Bakerloo to Marylebone. It's simple and we will do it today from High Wycombe.Emj wrote:What's the best way of getting to Marylebone after the game please? No need to leave early. Central line is good.Emj wrote:What's the best way of getting to Marylebone after the game please? As others have advised you the Central line journey is the most direct, i was giving you a journey without the Stratford queing, but as i don't use Stratford and they do, it would seem their journey is better.

I loved that article, freelander - thanks for sharing.
Emj, if you want to avoid the boredom of standing in the queue as opposed to the time delay, hang about in the concourse after the game and have a beer.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Spent a cracking couple of hours before the game in Number 90 on the canal at Hackney Wick. Sat on the terrace outside and had a couple of beers and a burger. Entertained by a hen party canoeing past with one pair unable to stop steering into parked barges, much to the delight of the spectators.
On the way back to Hackney Wick stopped off in the German Deli gaff and a had a couple of bottles of Erdinger
Pre and post match at the new stadium is better than anywhere else in the country in my opinion, especially when the weather is half decent

Talking of flags, anyone know what's happening with the KUMB one? I paid money towards it and I've been looking for it but not seen it yet. Cheers

Agreed Crouchend.......... So much choice before and after the game. Miles better than UP..........Crouchend_Hammer wrote:Pre and post match at the new stadium is better than anywhere else in the country in my opinion, especially when the weather is half decent

Good to see they have finally installed shelves to put beers on. Only took them a season. Hopefully I want spill any more beer all over the tea and coffee condiment again now.
