Re: Boxing thread
People were calling Charles Martin one of the most dangerous men in the division, including Team Fury, Joshua smashed him to pieces. Breazeale entered the ring undefeated and seen as a threat, Joshua smashed him up, Breazeale has since gone on to end the unbeaten record of Izuagbe Ugonoh. Molina was a rated as fairly decent but couldn't handle the power. Once the Klitschko fight became a possibility Joshua was straight in there. Klitschko was in fantastic condition but, again, yet another opponent just couldn't cope with the power that Joshua has. 19 fights, all won by KO. Who had Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker and even Wladimir Klitschko fought after 19 fights? This has been an outstanding rise from Joshua and I really hope it continues, he's doing British boxing proud.

Also he is living proof that even if you have a troubled up bringing you can turn your life around. He is an inspiration to youngsters in this country and around the world.
What I love about him is he doesn't get involved in bad mouthing opponents. He doesn't get caught up in trash talking. He lets his boxing do the talking.
Looking forward to seeing him add another trophy to his award cabinet at the end of the year when he wins sports personality of the year.

Well said Ife, see an image of Joshua and Deeney after the fight, two inspirational characters for the kids of today.

Re: Boxing thread
The respect between the two fighters was refreshing. Klitschko was an advert on how to lose.

Re: Boxing thread
Forums and social media really are amazing, the amount of people that just can't accept somebody else's opinion on a subject is astounding. It's not black and white. I really don't post much on any site because it usually leads to an over the top response.
Nobody who is giving their opinion on the fight has anything against Joshua, maybe I should list what he did well ( in my opinion) and what he didn't so that people can see that It's not personal:
Started well with decent jab
Was patient and when the moment came he caught Klitschko with a massive punch and ignited the fight and made it one of the most entertaining fights I've ever seen
Went for the finish after he knocked him down
Recovered well late into the fight cleared his head and came back strongly.
Got caught in the first 5 seconds of rounds 2, 3 and 4 (i think, may have been 3,4,5) which a straight right from Klitschko, dont know how you can come out of the corner and allow that to happen to you 3 times unless you arent concentrating
Got caught with a big punch because Klitschko was hurt and started swinging, looked out on his feet, had nothing to do with being tired as he only threw 17 power punches in the round, the fact is he was badly hurt and lost his senses.
Didn't recover well at all in rounds 6, 7 or 8, didn't try to hold, threw nothing back. That for me is too long a period of being out of it and a more lethal fighter would have finished him.
Do I think he is doing well, absolutely, do I think he will dominate and run through everyone, no. But I think he's the best thing to happen to the heavyweight division for more than 20 years.

Re: Boxing thread
It gets a lot harder fro here on in, there will be no more easy opponents now, but Klitschko is still one of the best and he beat him. I think Wilder and Fury will cause him problems because of their size, Wilders punching and Fury's style, but I'd back Joshua over both of those two. Joseph Parker looks alright but again you'd have to fancy Joshua. None of these fights will be walks in the park but I think he's capable of beating them all within the next two years. The only problem I see is with Team Fury, if they start f**king about, moving the dates because of injuries or whatever, that could be a problem, whatever anyone says, Tyson Fury has wasted a year of Wald's career, I hope he doesn't do that with Joshua.nickkarkie wrote: Do I think he is doing well, absolutely, do I think he will dominate and run through everyone, no. Re: Boxing thread
The potential vulnerability of Joshua, Fury and Wilder will make for exciting fights if the 3 of them can all see action against each other

Re: Boxing thread
The German press said afterwards, unanimously, that it was the best they have ever seen Vlad in a title fight. And AJ put him down 3 times and beat him. Nuff said.

Re: Boxing thread
Fury beats Joshua.
Quick hands, brilliant upper body movement and faints and punches accurately with enough power.
Eddie Hearn coming out and saying saturday proves AJ has a chin is absolutely laughable, it was a big shot from wlad but it took him nigh on three rounds to even know where he was again! Fact of the matter is he's been hit twice by opponents and has wobbled each time. I'd have to add to that the shot he got hit with by Dillian Whyte wasn't even particularly heavy.
AJ gets hit too much, I think Fury would pick him off at will, he won't knock him out but he'll tie him up in knots.
Joshua is a big stiff idiot
Going desperate 'bar brawl' in the 11th and everyone thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread

Whilst they both received deserved immense credit from Saturday, people will naturally speculate about some of the vulnerabilities on display and how other fighters in the weight division would look to exploit them.
Great fights as we saw on Saturday often leave some questions and doubts about fighters going forward, nothing wrong with that.

Re: Boxing thread
WBC Mexico belt up for grabs this weekend
I'd love Chavez jnr to **** on Golden Boy's plans, De Le Hoya has ruined the middleweight division by covering Alvarez in cotton wool.

It's been Canelo all the way, a totally one-sided mismatch.
120-108, 120-108, 120-108

Re: Boxing thread
Chavez just doesn't care, he's a lazy ****er, I remember I watched the 24/7 programme a few years back when he was fighting Martinez I think, he gets out of bed after midday,
lazes around and goes to the gym sometimes at 1am.
The best thing about this fight is they have just announced Canelo v Golovkin for September

Re: Boxing thread
GGG is going to be in top form for that, meanwhile Billy Joe Saunders remains Middleweights forgotten man, which is annoying as he has a decent belt
Re: Boxing thread
I'll always remember that, around the house in his boxers eating cereal. No surprise he failed a drug test for cannabis after that fight :lol:nickkarkie wrote:Chavez just doesn't care, he's a lazy ****er, I remember I watched the 24/7 programme a few years back when he was fighting Martinez I think, he gets out of bed after midday,

Brilliant to see GGG and Canelo made. I'm sure after the Jacobs fight that Canelo feels he can beat him now.

Re: Boxing thread
Exactly Nesticles, plodding around in his slippers. You could see all those around him thinking that he's a bum.
Canelo was so fast and accurate on Saturday that I think it's going to be a cracker with GGG as he doesn't try to avoid punches.
