A player who has shown more fight and aggression that any other player in our team over the years.

Not saying he doesn't in general now, but his comments, that performance, this season, the atmosphere... it's all symptomatic of a bigger issue of apathy.
With that, there's a glaring common denominator.
You mean like a manager who can't get his players motivated all the time, especially near the end of the season ?

I really think trying to blame the ground for this is grasping at straws.

All of that language. Apathy.
In the stadium, around the stadium, around the club, on the pitch.

When our most urgent and aggressive player and candidate for captaincy starts paraphrasing that "the team sort of tried, but we were happy to get steamrolled because, ya know - meh - it happens from time to time" you know you're supporting a football team playing in an atmosphere where you simply do not give a **** any more.

Soulless. The whole thing.
Reminds me of the b*llocks the England players were spouting after going out of the Euros.

"That's football"
"In football sometimes these things happen"

Bunch of overpaid muppets - it gets harder and harder to relate to them every season. A bit of ****ing honesty would go a long way.

There are going to be a lot of roadworks around the carpenters road area, starting in a couple of months and going on for a year apparently.

Changing travel plans for next year and using Stratford International. Can anyone advise how long it takes to walk there from the ground? (& perhaps best route?) cheers.

There's a couple of routes and a third that goes via Westfield (if you can get through). I've found they all take roughly 10-15 minutes

If you come up the stairs from the platform and go out of the right exit towards Westfield. Turn right again between the car park and the hotel (up the stairs). Come to the end and you can either turn left (over the bridge passed the aquatic centre - think it brings you out by entrance H) or right (follow the road over the canal and then left - this brings you out by the Bell)

The advantage of the right hand route is a lack of stop / go boards on the way back but they're both much of a muchness on the way to the stadium.

Both routes are much better on the way back than Stratford tube - I've hated that journey when I've done it and it has always taken me twice as long than via Stratford Intl.

I heard recently that from next week there will be no trains from Liverpool st towards Southend after 2130. This will be the case until November. A replacement bus service will pick you up from Shenfield to take you to your destination station.

So if we are playing midweek and you want to head towards Southend that's sure going to add to the journey home from the stadium with the best transport links in the country ! :asleep:

Seriously? You tie the action of the train firms to slagging off the owners slogan of the ground?

I suppose the train firm wouldn't have done this had we still been at Upton Park? :thdn:

Is this serious?

Wouldn't it be EXACTLY the same if we were at upton park?

The 'world class' transport links were one of the key selling points of the move. Surprise surprise, not quite true at the moment is it?

When compared to the one tube line, one station at Upton Park it is. The issue isn't the train links which are world class, what is is the management of the bulk of supporters that all leave on the final whistle, but that's standard at any large modern stadium, it takes a while to vacate the area.

We use the Carpenters route but try to get there a good 2 hours before the game at least and then leave it until about an hour after the game by having a beer in the ground to let the crowds go and the away end open up.

Never got involved with Chav Square but have seen it buzzing there at times, a few burger vans have already started to appear down that road too so people are catching on. The Carpenters pub really gets too busy from anywhere around 90 mins before kick off now. They had to shut the garden (car park section) after the police decided it would be sensible to walk Chelsea past early in the season (hardly the pubs fault) and it killed it all a little bit. Unless you are making a day of it and can get there a good 3 hours before and plot up, I really wouldn't bother. popping in.

Grabbed a beer at The Podium Bar last week which worked well and I can see that being popular but it is not huge so again is one to get to early. We tend to just get into the ground a good hour before and get a drink in there now. Could do with a few TV's or PA systems in the 112/113 area though, no idea what the team is, or when the players are coming out from down there. People are often standing around drinking 5 mins into the game totally oblivious that it has started.

This... it is probably the worst part of that ground .. 2 bars to serve the upstairs and downstairs, you can be waiting for 15 mins to get a drink .. by the time its finished you 10 mins into the second half without knowing

It is without doubt the worst part of the ground in terms of facilities for fans.

There has been absolutely zero thought or effort put into the section between the 'corporate wrist band only' area and the away fans.

Other areas have pop up bars, TV's, betting booths... we have absolutely nothing.
