world athletics championships
Kicks off tonight, the stadium looks great in its true form.
Bolt and Mo's last outing. Are we bothered or just too much damage to the sport?

Can't believe Coe can show his face there, he's cost the country hundreds of millions from his refusal of letting football being part of the legacy.

Re: world athletics championships
Can anybody really believe what they're seeing? That they're all clean?
How much would World Athletics stand to lose if half their top were sitting out the competitions for "letting down the sport, my team and myself, I'm really sorry and I've learned my lesson."?

Re: world athletics championships
10000m is Africa v's Mo, they are teaming up and have a plan to beat him.
Gatlin get roundly booed (the fact he is allowed to compete amazes me)
Bolt looked very unconvincing, moaning about the blocks.

It was, great race. I ran 10k this morning at 7am, but I hadn't taken any drugs.

I'm a little surprised there isn't a stewards enquiry for Farah stepping inside the track on the final bend. Yes he was jostled, but he did put a foot out of bounds.
I suppose it depends how absolute these offences are

Re: world athletics championships
Just out of interest Dan, what time did you run? I was working with a guy last night who was telling me he spent time in Kenya at a training camp with Mo, amongst others. He said the target for some trial or other was 27 minutes.DasNutNock wrote:It was, great race. I ran 10k this morning at 7am, but I hadn't taken any drugs.

He didn't exactly choose to do it. Magnificent from Farah, proper tough guy, his best ever raceJohnny Byrne's Boots wrote:I'm a little surprised there isn't a stewards enquiry for Farah stepping inside the track on the final bend. Yes he was jostled, but he did put a foot out of bounds.

Re: world athletics championships
I was just wondering if stepping out of bounds is an absolute offence, clearly it isn't and the blazers have some leeway by the look of it.

Re: world athletics championships
50 minutes is normally my target time at that time of day (I'm faster around midday) but I was more like 53 minutes yesterday. My all time PB for that distance, on a treadmill, was more like 46 minutes, but those days are long gone.jastons wrote:Just out of interest Dan, what time did you run? I have no idea of what it feels like to be a genuinely fast runner.

And where did you get that nugget of information from?ThreeSixes wrote:Aren't they all on drugs? I don't see why you are getting so upset?
The best sprinter of all time, proven to be clean time after time, beaten by a two times banned drug cheat who should never be allowed to compete.
I could have taken it had Coleman won the race with Bolt second, but not this

Re: world athletics championships
I'm not for one second suggesting Bolt is anything but clean, but on the more general point of the top names being 'proven clean' time and time again I'd modify it to 'not shown to be dirty'.
I'd cite Lance Armstrong as someone who could have been said to have been 'proven clean' on many an occasion and we all know what happened to him, even more so since the French were convinced he was dirty and did everything to prove it. I find it very hard to believe he could have succeeded for so long in the face of determined investigation, by the French in particular, unless he had considerable assistance from outside his immediate circle.
With both cycling and even more so athletics, it's not in the sports' interest to have their big name stars serving bans instead of putting paying bums on seats.
