I've seen cars flashed on M25 when doing over 90 by the gantry cameras even when no speed limits have been showing, and I was cruising at 85 hence knowing they were doing 90+

I am currently on 6 penalty points.
Two offences in 18 months............both 38mph, in a 30mph zone.
I am currently driving around like Brian the Snail in the Magic Roundabout.

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......
I think it's a bit hit and miss. I've been with friends on xmas day night booting round the southern part of the M25 (A3 anti-clockwise at 95+) and no flashes.hammerdivone wrote:I've seen cars flashed on M25 when doing over 90 by the gantry cameras even when no speed limits have been showing, and I was cruising at 85 hence knowing they were doing 90+
What does wind me up is when they slow traffic down on a variable limit - 60...50...40 etc. For nothing.

It seems like nothing but they're actually trying to ease congestion by making you approach the traffic jam ahead more slowly.

That's fine, but why at 8.30pm on a Friday night, very light traffic and no actual jam at the end of it?sendô wrote:It seems like nothing but they're actually trying to ease congestion by making you approach the traffic jam ahead more slowly.

That's either a) because the traffic calming measures have worked, and the jam has been relieved, or b) they're just targetting you on purpose.
Probably b.

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......
a weird one, when a cat hisses it means it's angry and warning others away from it, so in cat language(????)
a hiss is a warning and must sound bad to other cats as they know what it means.
when i spray deodorant my cat absolutely shats itself and runs a mile,
my question is........ what is the deodorant spray saying to my cat

Definitely not a. See gcro's previous post about the concertina/ shockwave effect.sendô wrote:That's either a) because the traffic calming measures have worked, and the jam has been relieved, or b) they're just targetting you on purpose.
Probably b.
The original theory was based on one vehicle slowing by 10mph causing traffic to come to a complete standstill I think.
The only way to reduce congestion is to abolish speed limits. Faster driving means shorter journeys. Ergo less vehicles on the road

.... why are there often a number of blank pages at the end of books - in this case they are paperbacks.

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......
When I wrote my book, the publishers said that they'd probably have to insert blank pages due to the page numbering. Apparently it's bad practice to start chapters on even numbered pages. Don't know how true that is, but that's what they did.pablo jaye wrote:.... why are there often a number of blank pages at the end of books - in this case they are paperbacks.

If they're school textbooks, it's to allow space for lots of knobs to be drawn, as well as slogans along the lines of "Philosphical Dan is a c*nt".pablo jaye wrote:.... why are there often a number of blank pages at the end of books - in this case they are paperbacks.
