I actually believe that Carvalho if we sign him will transform our season. All of a sudden we have a top 6 midfield.
The first bit sounds right, not sure about the second. Carvalho and Lanzini are the only ones who would have a chance of being starters in a top 6 midfield, and even then it's only a definite maybe.

Great news about Big Willy. Now for a new centre back and Jota as well and that will make this window complete

Have to wonder who is going to lose out with the arrival of Carvalho. Obiang, Kouyate, Noble. At least one of them will hardly get a game. As much as it pains me to say, it's got to be Noble?

There will always be injuries. That and subs. The importance of being able to bring quality fresh legs with half hour left can't be understated. We've lost so many games because we were incapable of keeping up with subs.

Kouyate, Ayew and Carroll on as subs with 30 mins left just as an example, would be outstanding.

Cullens loan end in January so i think we will see a midfielder depart in January ( out of Obiang and Cheik, whoever performs worse with Carvalho) and then Cullen will come in as 3rd/4th choice

Dont think Noble will ever leave the club tbh

I would never write of Mark Noble but if Cavalhjo signs then whoever holds down places in central midfield will be keeping other good players out of the side. So for Nobes this may be his toughest challenge here for twelve years perhaps. He tends to rise to challenges.

Jinxed - thanks for the info as always.

Assuming someone such as Lanzini isn't being sold to fund all this then I have to doff my cap to the Daves for once. I didn't think it would be remotely possible to right the wrongs of the last three windows in just one but it's starting to look not just possible but likely. If we get Carvalho over the line, keep our best and just bring in one or two more (maybe on loan) to make up the numbers (I'm not convinced any of our kids can be relied on just yet) then we go into this season in extremely good shape. This is shaping up as a squad that can have a real tilt at the cups.

Mirror & Talksport reporting that Liverpool want Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne to replace Philippe Coutinho if the playmaker is sold to Barcelona.

I don't think they need to replace Coutinho Mane-Salah-Firminio is absolutely fine, they could do with investing in a top midfielder would be better for them

Jinxed, that would be an unbelievable signing, and it will stop me pining after the days of Alex Song as our World Class midfielder.

Liverpool and Klopp are too arrogant for that. Defending and tackling a bit beneath them now.

Sell Coutinho, buy van Dijk and N'Zonzi and they're laughing

Martinez is ok as second choice striker, I hear.

5 defenders make the bench ahead of him. I know Sakho is there, but a lad good enough to be in the squad when Sakho and Carroll are injured would also be letting Collins sit this one out

Any one who thinks we have enough attacking talent, have a look at our bench today. We can't get rid of Fegs & Snodgrass, by the looks of the bench both are going, has anyone actually scored a free kick since Payet left.
