Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
The 1st season under Bilic, every time we played a top team, we had a go at them and attacked them and beat every single one of them. Last season, and evidently now, we play against a top team and just sit back in our own half and pray for a 0-0 without remotely trying to attack. I don't get it. Sure, we had Payet in the 1st season and he helped but we have good enough attacking players out there to cause problems but we aren't even trying to.

The only centre back partnerships that work are with Collins
Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Not overly disappointed, a goal down against a better team with a better manager. We look better defensively with Zabaleta and Hart, hopefully we don't sleepwalk into the second half, Man United tire down to our level and we get on the ball more and we can cause problems.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Only a half however glad to see Noble playing well again.
Obiang and Fernandes have been weak and given away too much.
Stand by my  at the suggestion Ayew is going to keep Antonio out of the starting XI
Man Utd have played well
Cresswell, Carvalho, Antonio and Lanzini in for Masuaku, Obiang, Ayew and Fernandes and I reckon we have got a good team there

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
So an Obiang cock-up and the obligatory Lukaku goal is all that separates us at HT against a title favourite.
I don't think we've been that bad tbf, not as bad as some are making out on here anyway...

The new signings look good.
Chicharito is playing with intelligence - if he cant release the ball ge will draw a foul.
Masuaku, Reid, Noble all playing well.
Obiang getting caught if he holds the ball too long - Matic is on him very quick.
I think Bilic will open it up gradually through 2nd half.
Keep the faith

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
I think some of you are far too harsh on us.
Man united do look really good to be fair..
Our ball retention is poor granted but pogba matic and mata are great at turning over midfields

Fernandes and Obiang need to try and get a grip in midfield at least. No use just inviting them on.

Yeah me too. Fairly composed and solid apart from an iffy 5/10 minutes when they got the goal. Fernandes and Obiang look a bit lost also Ayew, but there's no shortage of effort and we're still in it. Shame we haven't got Carroll to come on. He'd be ideal in this game/scenario.gegsy wrote:I think we've done alright to be honest.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Must be watching a different game. Thought Noble was our best player by a mile. Giving it everything. Two of their players cost more than our entire team! They are fighting but with Fernandes and Obiang we look light in the middle. Chich looks sharp. If we can nick a point (I know I know) or at least contain and fight I think it would be a good showing. Definitely need to add Carvalho or similar for some iron in the middle. COYI!!

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Obiang is getting dicked on continuously by pogba. Can't believe how many of u lot rate this player. Such a passenger in many games.
I know we have injuries but for me I'd prefer tin the 2md half even though I don't rate Sam... Is to play Byram at right back and move zaba at CDM. At least that way it'll hopefully give Fernandes an opportunity to support the forward. Who is so isolated.
Bilic has really shown too much respect to united here. After last season he knows we ain't the greatest at defending so why the f*** sit deep and invite pressure when we haven't got pace to play on counter

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Quite a few misplaced passes from Fernandes. 0-1 at half time is not the end of the world.
Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
We did well, it's not like this is the Arsenal/Leicester game where Arsenal were cutting through them at will reflected in the 70/30 possession stats. United only had 1 shot on target before that goal. It's just a shame that Obiang decided to take the day off.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
To be fair we've all seen worse performances but we've also seen us doing much better when we've had much weaker squads. We've been second to most balls and harried off the ball by their energy and aggression as much as superior skill. We need to wake up 2nd half and start pushing them a little as if not this could finish up as a very bad day for us.il_martello_di_genovesi wrote:
Half a game at Old Trafford without some of our better players and you **** the manager off. Pathetic.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
We really haven't been that bad. Shocked to see everyone just coating us on here to be honest.
We could do more but it's not been a catastrophe. Lots of players at only 5 or 6 out of 10 who have gears to go through.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Obiang looks either injured or unfit to me. I don't think Fernandes it quite ready for the likes of Pogba just yet unfortunately. Definitely a player there but he will need to take games like today as a huge learning curve. Think Kouyate in midfield would have made a difference today.
We are really not utilizing Arnie or Ayew but I guess we cant if we don't get the ball. Hernandez is super hungry but again no ball means not much for him to do but run.
Only 1-0 we're still in it. Game of 2 halves and all that.
Come on you Irons.
