EFLCR2: Cheltenham Town 0-2 West Ham Utd (23/08/17)
Wednesday 23rd August at the LCI Rail stadium, Cheltenham, K.O.19.45 .
For those not aware , despite this being a home tie, our Board of Directors have generously agreed to switch this fixture to our opponents ground to help reduce their travel costs .I've still billed it as a home game mind you , but please don't turn up in Stratford .The lights will probably be on but there will be nobody at home .
Postcode for your SatNav: GL52 5NA
Stadium Capacity: 7,200
Postal Address: Whaddon Road Stadium, Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, Glos, GL52 5NA
Home Colours: Claret and Blue ( Go on Slaven, I dare you )
Away team colours -Red , white and black
Trains - Nothing after 22.00 that would get you back to London so given the almost certainty of extra time and probably penalties , I wouldn't take that option .
Club coaches will depart from the South Lawn, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (adjacent to ArcelorMittal Orbit) at 3pm
All tickets are sold for this match .
This is Slaven's 100th game in charge .

Looking forward to this, a new ground to tick off the list. That said another 180 or so miles to drive in a round trip after Man Utd and Southampton already is a pain (nobody mention next Saturday to me).
Reid's injury and Arnie's red make selection a little tougher with Carroll and Lanzini also not ready yet. Also with Feghouli gone and Snodgrass on his way out we don't have many options in the attacking roles. Antonio surely can't start 3 games in a week after his injury, so needs to be on the bench at best.
Adrian
Byram
Collins
Ogbonna
Masuaku
Noble
Kouyate (Obiang if Kouyate isn't fit enough to start)
Ayew
Fernandes
Makasi
Sakho
Subs: Hart (or probably one of the young keepers), Cresswell, Fonte, Obiang/Kouyate, Rice, Antonio, Chicharito

What sort of team is that ?aaronhammer wrote:Looking forward to this, a new ground to tick off the list. That said another 180 or so miles to drive in a round trip after Man Utd and Southampton already is a pain (nobody mention next Saturday to me).

Byram-------Rice----Ogbonna--------Cresswell
-----------Zabaleta----Obiang----------------
Antonio------Haksabanovic-------Masuaku
-------------------Hernandez------------------
Add a bit of youth (pace) to defence, have a proper shield in front of them, and give the new lad a run out in attacking midfield. Also a perfect opportunity to try Masuaku as a left winger

And he's only really made a decent fist of one cup competition (FA Cup, first season). This is a game that frankly he could be doing without, at the moment, because his position would get a little more precarious with another defeat.the pink palermo wrote:This is Slaven's 100th game in charge .

Re: West Ham United Vs Cheltenham Town FC -Carabao cup OMT
should be able to get past this but we are west ham !
bilic will have one eye on newcastle
would have been ideal game for burke oxford cullen !
so maybe this
Adrian
Byram Collins Ogbonna Masuaku
fernandez holland Obiang ayew
Martinez sakho
subs trott kouyate cresswell noble quinna masaki carroll
collins as captain , would like not to have to play ogbonna as needed for saturday
should have enough to sew this up quickly and get ogbonna obiang off
run out for kouyate in second half to get him ready for the barcodes.
4-0 hammers martinez 3 ayew

Does anyone know if Arnautovic can play in this game? Or does this competition count as part of his 3 match ban? If he can play we might as well play him as he wont play for 3 more games.
I'd go with:
-------------------------------------Adrian----------------------------------
-Byram-------------------Collins-------Ogbonna-----------------Masuaku-
--------------------------------------Rice--------------------------------------------
-------------------------Noble---------------Fernandes--------------------------
-Antonio-------------------------Sakho------------------------------Arnautovic/Ayew-

antonio should not be risked for this game just back and tired after yesterday. would be madness to play him. rest and training for newcastle for him.
rice at the back with ginge seems a good idea.
can arnie play in this game ? if so might as well play him as will have time off for a few weeks now.
we have enough in reserve for this one.
would like to see holland rice quinna martinez get some game time.
hart zab ogbonna cresswell antonio hernandez not to be risked

Re: West Ham United Vs Cheltenham Town FC -Carabao cup OMT
We're not going to win the premiership this season,
We're not going to win the champions league this season,
We still have a chance to win the league Cup or the fa Cup,
going out with a whimper by playing a second string side is an insult to all our fans, it's a trophy, that's all we want and if sugo are supposedly fans as well, surely they want to see us win something while they are still alive??

One of the most important games of the season.
All about the Cups. Full strength.

Nothing if we take it serious and put out a full strength side. If we piss about in this one, I'd be livid.Noble Man wrote:Confidence low, live on Sky, League 2 team away.....what could possible go wrong?
Re: West Ham United Vs Cheltenham Town FC -Carabao cup OMT
Would love it if they were to give Ham-Sandwich, Martinez and Quina some meaningful playing time. I think this year will probably be the year we start to ease Quina into the senior team through the cup games. If nothing else, getting Quina into the senior setup should help us fend off outside interest if he sees he can get game time and a pathway to the senior side.
