Indeed, it was a no lose situation for McGregor, whatever the outcome.

Dialing into the mechanics of it....he was blowing out of his arse after two rounds and seemingly not particularly heavy handed. That was surprising...ish.

It showed there is much more to boxing than simply exchanging punches.

And Floyd is the master at it, even against experienced pro boxers.

McGregor didn't really commit to his punches early doors. Afraid of getting counter punched I think. He tired very quickly after round 5 or 6. Mayweather gave him no respite after 3 with his constant moving forward.

In the end it was a one trick pony with one style vs a pro with experience and many trickes and game changers in his arsenal.

As many have said. Boxing wins

What's all this 'boxing wins' nonsense.

We witnessed the equivalent of a Tony Pulis managed Man Utd going 2-0 down to the LA Lakers in a football match only to grind their way back into the game with their notorious brand of anti football and only at 80 minutes the floodgates finally opened for the team playing their own sport.

A 50-0 boxer needed 10 rounds to knock out someone who has never had a boxing match.

I love boxing but that was no advert for it.

I don't watch MMA nor am I a McGregor fan but he just went 10 rounds with my least favourite boxer of all time. Whilst boxing as a sport would never have recovered, deep down I quite wanted McGregor to knock him out.

A predictable result. It wouldn't surprise me if Mayweather had money on winning by a stoppage in the tenth round.

Mayweather likes gambling. Mayweather tried to bet $400,000 on the McGregor fight but was denied He tried to place a $400,000 bet on the fight ending under 9.5 rounds at -200 odds but was denied so he gave the money to a friend to place the bet.

Mayweather must be absolutely pissing himself at how much hes made from that walk in the park last night. Macgregor needs to stick to ufc. Terrible boxer, Mallinagi would beat him.
I had a few hundred on Mayweather to win inside 12 rounds @ 8/11 was kicking myself for not gloomy in bigger really. I had a niggle in the back of my mind that Mayweather might have lost a bit of speed/stamina since his last fight, but once the fight started there was only ever one winner. Mayweather as sharp as ever and would still beat anyone at that weight.

At the end of the day it was a boxing match in a boxing ring, and Mayweather won. So if course it counts as a win. It's very easy to come out after saying it shouldn't count just because Macgregor was beyond useless. The bookies gave him more of a chance than most of mayweathers recent opponents over the last 5 years. He was as low as 11/4 to win. A lot of deluded UFC/Irish fans must have piled a lot of money into that fight.

Could you imagine McGregor up against an attacking boxer?

Imagine him against a Pacquaio or Hatton - he'd get absolutely mullered.

It was a perfect fight, perfect fighter for him to gain plaudits for all of those outside the boxing world who wouldn't have known just how easy that was for Mayweather.

McGregor would lose to most of the pro boxers on the circuit. Gave everything he had (which wasn't much) in the first 3 rounds and after that could barely fathom up the energy to throw anything more. He sold the fight well and convinced a lot of his fans he had a chance. Anyone with any real boxing knowledge knew he had no chance.

Exactly what I said after 4 rounds, Sam Eggington, a welter that comes forward at every opportunity, would batter him. Mcgregor's guard was pathetic, I can't believe he thought he could carry on like that, you have to protect yourself, whether it's Mayweather you're in with or a Mexican roadsweeper.
