Club Rugby 17-18

Post by BromleyHammer »

Anyone else into watching rugby that's a little more competitive than football? Season starts this weekend.

My predictions for this season

Top four
Chiefs
Saracens
Leicester
Harlequins :)

Champions, Chiefs (again)
Champions Cup, Clermont

Aviva, Pro14, Top 14 etc - feel free to discuss as you please.

Live just outside Bath, sister is a season ticket holder so I show a passing interest. Finding I follow it more in depth with each passing year. Hoping for a better away showing from Bath this year....

I love going to the Rec to watch Bath play Quins, the ground has so much character and the city is beautiful too. Always my number one away ground to visit each season

I'm off to the double header tomorrow. Saracens fan.

I fancy us to make it 3 European titles on the bounce.

Yes, I thoroughly enjoy watching rugby and have done for years but have never settled on just one club to follow. I go reasonably regularly to watch my local side Basingstoke, occasionally London Irish and Quins - but don't support either Prem side. A friend of my son has just got a contract with London Scottish, so will probably get up there for a game or two this season.

I find that it is a game that is enjoyable at any level from kids games on a Sunday morning up to 6 Nations.

Went to the LDH yesterday, I think I saw the Champions in waiting, Saracens were simply ruthless. As a Quins fan I was shocked at the basic errors we made in our defeat to newly promoted London Irish. Following Quins is just like West Ham.

Poor result for Worcester at Newcastle. Could be a long old season.
Hoping to get to a few games at Sixways, especially any Friday night ones.

Unbelievable wasn't it mate. Same old basic errors from a number of players who are significantly better than that.

I thought we 'Sarries' we're outstanding in that opening half. Though as a West Ham fan I still found holes to pick, lamenting the kicking. If Farrell was playing we could have hit 70 points

My prediction for top 4 is:

Saracens
Bath
Wasps
Gloucester (dark horses, Johann Ackermann is a brilliant coach)

Champions - Saracens
Champions Cup - Saracens

Will be interesting to see how the Cheetahs and Kings get on in the Pro 14 this year. Will take them a while to get used to the NH style of play and I think when they do both teams will be relatively strong in that league and VERY difficult to beat at home.

This would be my pick too! Possibly Chiefs could quite easily make top 4 too though.

I'll be happy if Bath make the top 4 this year, chuffed with the win at Welford Road.

Saracens and Wasps should be certs, with the other two from Bath, Exeter, Leicester and Gloucester (Good shout for dark horses there).

Wow that’s a massive fall from grace you’re predicting for the Chiefs there?! Based on what exactly? :eh: We're already top again and Henry Slade is absolutely running the show.

We outclassed Wasps last weekend. Can only see Saracens challenging us - the battle of stiffling, defensive Rugby versus our free-flowing attacking approach.

We’re gonna win it again, playing the best Rugby again: CHIEFS! CHIEFS! CHIEFS! ; - )

I posted a similar prediction (although I did mention Chiefs), based on nothing but a hunch. Shows what I know! Image

I thought Wasps' back line alone would get them over the line in games and it's just not turning out that way. They've been a disappointment even taking into account the injuries they've had.
