Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I've realised and didn't go Monday, missed the first home game of the season since 2000 and my 2nd home game in over 9 yrs.
Watched I the pub instead, could be the future for me, with the occasional 'day tripper Saturday 3pm visit for the piss hole

What matters is beating teams like Chelsea and Spurs last season.hadleighhammer wrote:Yeah cos thats what matters when watching WHUFC.
And that sure as **** isnt happening anytime soon in our next level Athletics Track shitheap.
Games like last night when you see the team putting the effort in and getting what they deserved.
Having a crowd around you who love good banter and don't slag off every man and his dog.
Clearly none of which you will ever appreciate

Some people do say that though. That's why I mentioned it.Ifebbubbles wrote:
No one said you can't walk into westfield.
You can't cut through Westfield to get to the stadium quicker. Although you could until 6pm yesterday.

Club London seats apparently couldn't be put on ticket trader until other "hospitality" seats had all sold out. I'd assume they didn't sell out, so Club London seats remained empty.Marky wrote:Still no draught beer at Club London, no wifi and i had empty seats all around me. Where was everyone?

It'll never ever be the Boleyn but I can't lie, I warm to the place more and more during the game the more I go and feel the rest of the crowd around me. The stewards seemed to leave us to it unlike so often like last season too. At full voice, the place makes a hell of a racket.

Seat double booked
Just wondering if any other season ticket holders who brought the two season season ticket turned up at the huddlesfield game only to find someone in your seat. This happened to me , the person in my seat had a valid season ticket for the seat, they said they had asked for a move and was given my seat, I sat somewhere else that night, and was told the club would contact me. Anyone else got the same issue ?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
The same is with myself and my friend. I signed up to become a clarets member for this season to make an effort to see more games. I bought my mate a ticket as he had never been to the stadium. He's first impressions were not possitive, he flat out said he did not like it.Colours never run wrote:It'll never ever be the Boleyn but I can't lie, I warm to the place more and more during the game the more I go and feel the rest of the crowd around me. But the second he heard bubbles come on, the away support singing and when the home support got a bit rialled up after the first goal his mind changed almost instantly. On its day the stadium can be loud, levels at which we never heard at Upton Park. From what I understand anyone who at the spurs game last season should agree.
Is the LS perfect? No, not by a long shot. But it is our home now, and the more I go, the more i feel at home there. I will always miss Upton Park, its where I had my first live footballing experience and found my love for West Ham. Nobody likes change, but if you are fortunate enough to experience a lively and loud atmosphere from both sets of supporters at the LS, your heart, like mine and my friends and CNR will slowly warm and accept the stadium as our new home.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Expecting the additional 26000 ST holders not to include thousands who haven't supported the club for years or those who just to turn up for the big matches is totally unrealistic. Our fan base isn't going to just double with die hard fans. Quite frankly, I'm not bothered if they turn up or not, leave early, eat popcorn or bring along their Sunday roast. I'm more concerned with watching what's on the pitch. I preferred the Boleyn of course but it is is what it is. It will remain an athletics stadium for many years to come so I have a choice...I stop going after 50 odd years or I accept it with all its faults. There's no point continually moaning about it - ultimately we all have a choice to take it or leave it.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
It is our home for now and we have to accept. It is getting there slowly but so many things they could do to improve the place but wont until we own it 100%. That is a few years off.
The crowd is getting better. the stewards allow you to stand. I stood in TBL all game as did everyone else around me.
Bubbles sang by the whole stadium is a new level and better than at the BG
the distance between the fans and pitch is awful. surely the east stand can be developped so they can get a few extra rows in at the front. even some warning of a restricted view type seat but 10 yards nearer ?
The TVs around the concourse dont show the live games or anything other than LS crap.
the PA was awful, music awful.
walk to stadium to actually getting on the tube was 28 mins - not too bad.
carpeneters arms was excellent
beer in stadium £4.90 a pint no thanks
Ribman was great £6 for a rib roll lovely. massive queue for him.
searching system no rpoblem and an improvement.
programme good value £3.50
looking forward to the next one against spurs ! shoud be a craqcking atmosphere for sure
loved the BG would go back to a 50000 BG but we are here now
time to support the team.

Maybe having to play our first few games away has accidentally had a positive affect on our feelings?
"Absense makes the heart grow fonder" & all that.
Me, I just tolerate the place as Westham is what I am & will always do!

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Took my usual short cut through the shopping centre to get to the ground, entered through turnstile H following a search where the bloke tried to touch my front bottom but I won't report him, don't want to get him in to trouble and all that .He will be disappointed to learn it was a bottle with a lid on though .
No hot dogs in the East stand which were the stand out decent food item from last year , nowhere to rest a drink , soggy coke bucket that self imploded and ruined the programme of the fella in front .
Sat in row 37 , repeat row 37 of the 1966 club and enjoyed the soft falling rain drifting on to me - say what you like but you didn't get that at the Boleyn , so that's a real plus .
And for only the second time in my entire life I left early .
The good news is most people sat around us were the same as last season .
I doubt I'll ever get used to it , but it is what it is , if you want to support west ham in the flesh half the games will be there .For Tottingham I think I'll decamp to the Boleyn Bar .

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but the security issue worked well apart from this one point.
My son and I went through security at the shop end and proceeded to walk to entry H with the intention of going down to the boat for a drink as we did for all of last season but when we got too security there was no way out of the concourse, my son argued with the security chap and after some time he escorted us down in the opposite direction to the main flow of supporters. He was very helpful but whats going to happen when we come across an awkward guy? No drink on the boat after paying for a season ticket for it.
Not happy.

Why do you think?Marky wrote:No draught beer in the Forge which costs a lot more than the Boelyn, HD1. I simply cannot fathom as to why.
Every question we have, what don't they have this? Why isn't this installed? This would be an improvement...
Money, money money
You can set up a draft keg in your house if you pay for f*** sake!
Even the other improvements of covering the concrete is "London Stadium" and not West Ham

This bugged me I must say. The banner near the big screen which reads something like this:MD_HM wrote:Even the other improvements of covering the concrete is "London Stadium" and not West Ham
"London Stadium - a great venue for music and sport."
Music before sport!!!
Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I prefer the bare concrete.
I agree with many of the above posts. The place is a sh*thole, but it's OUR sh*thole - when the crowd gets behind the team and generates some noise it feels OK.

Same here. Understand I'm in the minority but I like stadiums that have bare concrete showing.mike1961 wrote:I prefer the bare concrete.
