"Take this all with a pinch of salt, but the guy seemed genuine enough with some credible proof, so I believe it to be true.
Have been in Athens since Sunday, so on Monday I decided to head to an Irish bar to watch us play Huddersfield. Walked in asked if the game was on, girl behind the bar said yeah, instantly a guy asked if I was a hammers fan. We got chatting turns out he's a season ticket holder, works in Greece and London, eventually reveals he's a banker. Then eventually reveals he happens to work with Sullivan, as Sullivan does business with his bank. Tells me a few stories that Sullivan has told him from his porn days and about how he shagged nearly 1000 women in a year. Then tells me that within the next week or two an American guy he knows should be purchasing a 7-8% stake in West Ham. Gold and Sullivan would prefer it if the news didn't go public as they don't want people to think they are selling, which they aren't, the shares the American is buying belong to an American hedge fund that they got hold of after the Icelandic consortium fiasco.
The guy had videos of David Gold taking penalties before the final game at Upton Park (shocking attempt) stadium is completely empty. As well as himself and his kids taking penalties. Considering in the video no one else even seems to be in the stadium, (not even stewards) I'm prone to believe him.
Not the most earth shattering news, but it was such a random interaction I wanted to share with some people that might find it interesting!
EDIT: Another interesting thing he mentioned, over the entire time Gold and Sullivan have owned Birmingham and West Ham, their net spend is only £4 million... so those waiting for that Carvalho or something similar... it's not happening unless we sell big.
The promises they make about big singings isn't just to sell season tickets, I think it's more of a case of them disguising the lack of investment they actually put in."
As I said this was from reddit, read here:

My apologies as it seems Morroco Mole did respond to this post. Anyways - this ITK on Reddit seems to be referring to the same thing as has just been posted about our new board member.
Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
I remember reading your post when first posted Boston....
What is really the more surprising is .... if that first part of the story was bang on. although random, then the second part must be equally so.... !!
The comments about the owners having a capital spend of just £4million including their time at Birmingham is ridiculously small and only goes to show even more now how much this board look at us as nothing more than pension plan...
Of course other interesting points coming out of that like why a company such as blackstone etc aren't known for getting involved with healthy businesses and generally what type of companies they get involved with...
It would seem unlikely they are here to invest right at this moment....

And while I'm not excited by our owners behavior, I'm not shocked either. Money doesn't buy class, as they say. Why would we expect them to be altruistic when they are businessmen? Shouldn't we expect the opposite, that they are in it only for themselves? Isn't that what capitalism is all about?
That being said, I wouldn't mind a more practical American owner who realized that a little money going into the club would help it grow exponentially.

Four million.... !!!
I cant believe no one else finds that astounding.....
On the new director.... investor.... the report says he is a non executive on the board...
I'd imagine that's no different to a similar position outside football.... anybody any idea what that 8% would have cost him or the company (if it ain't personal that is)

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
For the terminally ignorant such as myself, what is a 'non-executive director' and what can one of them do with just ten percent of the shares?

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
I don't post that often, and when I do I like to think I have a strong, clear message that I hopefully convey with a little eloquence.
I hate these two, hate them. Strong word, hate, but that's how I feel for what they have done and continue to do at West Ham.
Just thought I'd put that out there on a boring night in.

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
Others will know more precisely but it basically means a director who is independent of the club hierarchy and thus not in lieu to the self motivated scumbaggry of the majority shareholders/owners or as direct paid employees there of.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:For the terminally ignorant such as myself, what is a 'non-executive director' and what can one of them do with just ten percent of the shares?

I feel you Chikin. The longer they remain at a club the more they seem to get hated. They are a poison.ChikinRun wrote:I don't post that often, and when I do I like to think I have a strong, clear message that I hopefully convey with a little eloquence.

With 10% of the shares he can make a little bit of money for himself , that would be my guess .Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:For the terminally ignorant such as myself, what is a 'non-executive director' and what can one of them do with just ten percent of the shares?

Reading rumours that G&S opposed the Icelandics selling to Tripp Smith as they wanted the shares for themselves but the Icelandics went ahead with it anyway .
