Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
In my opinion it belongs in Upton Park, that's the home of our world cup winning trio.

Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
It should definitely stay put. As should've the Lyall gates for that matter.
There's an easy solution of course. The dildo brothers could capitalise a small percentage of the hundreds of millions in equity they hold and have a replica made.
This is yet something else they haven't paid for that they want to have.

The whole club belongs there, let's at least leave something of it.

Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
Leave where is. Leave something in the community that accommodated the club for over a century, and the place where these players shone..
Commission a replica for the new place, an easy bit of good will to the fans, and an ego trip for DS.
Sulli could have an image of himself instead like that geezer from Wigan has done. We could all fawn over before each match with selfie sticks, cans of beer and fish n chips. Just like the old days......

Why? so we can try even harder to forget about all our traditions and history. Before long people might even forget we ever played at the Boleyn.Vienna wrote:Bring it with us.
Might as well change the name and the team colours. In fact lets go the whole hog and get shot of anyone who supported the club before we moved.
Get a whole new fan base in, sorry I meant customer.
West Ham United pre Stadium move R.I.P
Long Live West Ham London.

Build another one. One in each location.
The one at Stratford should be 40 feet tall and be mounted on the roof so you can see it on the approach from miles around

Trouble is LOS, don't you just know that he'd be too tempted to replace Moore, Hurst & Peters with himself, Gold & Brady...LOS wrote: Commission a replica for the new place, an easy bit of good will to the fans, and an ego trip for DS.

I'm surprised they don't want Ercan's wall as well..

Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
I'm in 2 minds about it. The happy compromise would be to make a replica or something like it to honour our past greats and leave it where it is.
If it was moved, I wouldn't be totally against it though, as it is a big nod to our past that's to be celebrated and shown to the world. Not sure how many people get to enjoy it these days, now it's out of sight, out of mind.
There is another aspect which I think is a pity and that's thousands of youngens will rarely get to see it and appreciate it's significance unless their mum or dad specifically take them to it. With it being part of a matchday experience again, I think it would be nice if they saw it standing proudly en route to the Olympic Stadium just as it became part of the matchday experience before the move.
Plus I miss seeing Herbert's hanging off the top of it with an occasional wesr ham scarf wrapped snugly round Mooros next.
It's a beautiful statue that should be proudly shown off, that's for sure. Just a shame we aint still there with it.

Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
Absolutely it should stay where it is.
It has nothing to do with the Olympic Stadium at Stratford.
It has everything to do with the men who plied their trade at the Boleyn Ground and gave West Ham, and the nation as a whole, one of it's proudest days. (Hence the inclusion of Ray Wilson in the sculpture).
It is a piece of art in an area that is calling out for culture. It should not be moved.

Re: [POLL] The Champions statue
Walked past it the other day and have to say it's looking in good nick.
As does the Brooking/Dev mural.
Someone is doing a good job.
Also special mention for the memorial plot which also looks neat and tkdy.
