Aye, today’s blow out was a glass shard. Probably from one of the two bus stops I had to ride past on Wednesday that had been smashed through by some local hardmen.

Have used it. Didn't really like it & found it a bit of a ballache to fit, to say the least.DasNutNock wrote:Any idea if that "anti puncture tape" stuff is worth using?
Also didn't appear to come up very high, up the sides of the tyres.
Much better to go with the good tyre advice, imo.

Cycle lanes as well, are always a magnet for broken glass..you'll already know that..DasNutNock wrote:Aye, today’s blow out was a glass shard. Probably from one of the two bus stops I had to ride past on Wednesday that had been smashed through by some local hardmen.

Definitely ditch the knobbly tyres if you're mostly on tarmac. I't's like riding through thick porridge! If you do want to go off the beaten track, you can put them back on again in 5 minutes.

Re: Little things that irritate you
TBH, just getting new tyres on at the right pressure, and replacing my gear cables has made a huge difference to my commute - 32 minutes each way this morning vs 37 minutes previously (minus the ****ing about dealing with punctures.
But yeah, slick tyres seem to be the way forward. Or I could just break out my racer, but I still prefer using off-road paths.

Re: Little things that irritate you
R2W still involves me shelling out, sadly. I was hoping to buy a disused bike off one of the other school dads - you know the type, must have a £6k super bike, then uses it twice. But they all bought racing bikes because they’re boring people, and I like mountain bikes because I’m not.
I suspect some bolt cutters and a hacksaw will do the trick.
