Gin and tonics that are 10 parts export strength gin to 5 parts freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and 2 parts lime juice. And less than 1 part tonic water.

The smell of the early summer. That great blend of gardens blooming, barbecues cooking, and local hood rats smoking weed. Ahhhhh...

6.00am, sitting in the garden with a fresh black coffee, seeing the wildlife going about their business, the quietness of it all (bar birds, but I like that), I forget how much the lovely weather makes me feel better 8-)

Wife going away for the weekend, I'm collecting some weed later, I plan on having a relaxing weekend, spent in the garden.

I may watch some football, I may drink some beers, I may light the BBQ, can't blooming wait!

:)

Yup, haven't seen out bat all winter as usual, but now with the late evenings it will be back. Not sure where it comes from but at a certain point at dusk it does two or three sweeps of our garden, right up to our french windows, regular as clockwork for the last few years.

Also looking forward to our annual Magpie version of "Take me out" at the tree at the end of our garden.

Usually get about 8 - 10 birds all scrapping over nesting rights.

Cycling to work on a day like this. An absolute privilege. Took one of my mates hours to get home from central London to Carshalton yesterday. Takes me 35 minutes on my bike, rain or shine. Or maybe 45 minutes if I get a puncture.

Yup. As someone who is the past has done 45 min drives to work in traffic, and the commute from Romford to London by train, plus cooking in sweaty Underground carriages, one bit of my life that is truly sorted is my commute.

I cycle on the undercliff to Brighton each day. Fresh air, sea right next to me. ****ing beautiful.

I follow the Thames from Chertsey to Staines, or if I fancy a change I can go past Thorpe Park. We're extremely lucky to live near the Thames & Wey paths, as well as having lots of segregated bike lanes. And even luckier to have gym showers at the office, as well as free clean towels and a room for airing stinky exercise kit

Tempted to get the inflatable canoe out tomorrow if this weather holds.

Our bats have turned up this week. Currently I'm on swift watch, numbers were down last year, hopefully this year's turnout will be better.

I used to fish there many many years ago. Beautiful. As nice as my sea views.

There is something about living by water that makes life feel better. (Walthamstow reservoirs excluded. :) )

Fair point, however there tends to be less broken glass on the surface of the Thames than there is on the towpath.

The under-30s blokes' interpretation of the casual friday dress code here. Skinny ripped jeans, no socks, penny loafers and too-tight v-neck T shirts revealing much of their (shaved) chests - always paired with a sunbed tan, lots of visible tattoos and telltale acne from all the steroids they neck in order to look like the cast of TOWIE.

This is, apparently, appropriate for a business with a revenue exceeding $3B.

Chatting with someone I know who runs an independent record store that is taking part in record store day; he read out an email from someone that asks "Could you please email me the list of records that you will have in stock for record store day, I'll then reply with the ones that I would like you to put to one side for when I come in". Composing suitable replies kept us entertained for ages. Probably one of those ****ers who will have them for sale on ebay by sunday. It must be fairly common because I've seen a tweet about something similar from a Hammer who runs the shop in Farnham.

I'm still unsure whether I will go along, but will probably try for a couple of records I fancy.
