Bit of a strange one that. None of them have played that many games, but Wilshere at least can unlock a defence from the centre of midfield.

We have a few wide men / AMs who will be in front of Lallana, Sterling, Alli, Lingard, Rashford just for starters.

I have no idea what position Delph plays anymore!

I have no problem with him dropping Hart, Wilshere has shown how over rated he is last two years, was in and out and hardly a superstar in the Bouremouth team and Wilshere is finally fit for a season and Arsenal have their worst season in decades. The big problem I have leaving Wilshere out is, there is going to be some players included who have barely played, I think Wilshere pulling out the two games a while ago annoyed Southgate and this is maybe the catalyst for the decision.

I don't know why Hart is so upset, being the third choice keeper is as close to not going as you can get while actually going.

If that makes sense!

Sky reporting Delph, Rose, Young, and Alexander-Arnold in the squad.

Brilliant an average center mid or a poor left back(you can't use city as an example Bravo could play left back for them)
Rose fair enough but hasn't played tons
Young god know, can't defend, gets away with it in a defensive Mourinho system
Alexander Arnold - Surely Tripper(I don't rate), Walker over him, don't need more than two right backs

So 4 centre backs, a midfielder who can also play there, and a right back that was deployed there in last game!

Young, Delph and Welbeck are very questionable picks in my opinion. Staggered that Wilshere hasn't gone.

I would have liked to have seen Lallana go but doubt he'd have had all that much of an impact truth be told. Other than that the squad looks pretty solid to me.

That midfield looks extremely weak to me. Not a real ball winner amongst the lot of them, I think teams will walk through us in the middle. That said, I’m not really sure who I’d have gone with, maybe they really are the best England have

No experienced keeper, shaky looking defence, very average midfielders, Kane and Vardy will need to score shed loads to get anywhere.

As for Danny Wellbeck......

Watch the Stoke goal Joe where you first fumbled a pea roller and then bottled the follow up and tried to kick it away.

That's what sealed your visit to Lastminute.com for your holiday.

Well we've only got a limited pool to choose from, but nonetheless there's only two recognised centre midfielders that I can see in there - and one of them regularly plays at the back for Spurs. The only other option is Fabian bloody Delph, who is now apparently a LB.

Welbeck up front, honestly thought he'd take a punt on Carroll to offer a plan B.

No idea why Young is in there, do we not have enough full backs?

I wonder if Southgate even knows what formation he even wants to play.

penalties are useful when chasing a game.

So I'm assuming formation here, based on what I'd play with those tools, but options surely are:

-----------------------Pickford/Butland------------------------

Walker/A-A/Trippier--Jones/Stones---Cahill/Maguire---Rose/Young/Delph

------------------Dier----------------Henderson----------

Rashford/Vardy-------Alli/Lingaard------Sterling/L-C

----------------------------Kane/Snipes------------------------

i think he will play 3 at the back (incluuding Walker) with WBs

GK

Trippier
Walker
Stones
Maguire
Young

2 in midfield

3 attackers, one of which is Kane

Now depending on how attacking he wants to be, one of the central two could be Dele (then has opportunity to have 3 additional attackers), or he could shore it up with Dier and Henderson in the middle and Dele playing as part of front 3

My concern with playing 5 at the back and Dier and Henderson is that becomes very defensive

A strange period for English keepers. I'd take Hart over Pickford, Arnie hit one straight at the ugly c**t from twenty yards and he bowed down to it. Great hit from Arnie but still.
