Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
So after 20 games in the Premiership(behind of the best defence minded teams) and the rest of his career at League One, Two and conference, Nick Pope is now a 25-30 mil keeper and better than Adrian who has played top flight football the last god knows how many years, made x amount of Premier League appearances, stats show he has a high save %, made the Spain squad.

Pickford was £30 million, Bravo was £17 million, Butland is rumoured at the £30 million mark.Colours never run wrote:Cech went for the same price. That's Cech>>>>>>>Heaton.
And yes, even taken into account inflation, £10m for a 32/33yo Burnley Keeper is too much to be spending on a Keeper that would at best be fighting it out for the No. 1 Jersey. It's a total waste of money considering age and ability.
I don’t want us to sign Heaton but in today’s prices for an English player, £10 million is peanuts.

I don’t think Pope is better, but he’s English, flavour of the month, and off the back of a good season. Burnley wouldn’t sell him for less that £25 million.fmgod wrote:So after 20 games in the Premiership(behind of the best defence minded teams) and the rest of his career at League One, Two and conference, Nick Pope is now a 25-30 mil keeper and better than Adrian who has played top flight football the last god knows how many years, made x amount of Premier League appearances, stats show he has a high save %, made the Spain squad.

It says more about the current state of football than Pope’s ability.

I agree. he is not perfect but we need other players before a new GK.Vienna wrote:Not many better than Adrian in this league, such a talented keeper.

Adrian has been treated pretty poorly last two seasons by Managers and the Chairman i absolutely wouldn't blame him if hes actively looking to leave anyways. Personally would like him to stay as we are far from certain to get a upgrade on him and hes more than decent enough for now.

Why? Because he gets dropped when he under performs and lets in lots of goals?Aaron-aldinho wrote:Adrian has been treated pretty poorly last two seasons by Managers and the Chairman i absolutely wouldn't blame him if hes actively looking to leave anyways. I'm not sure why he is painted as a victim...

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
I like Adrian because he is a good shot stopper and he is clearly West Ham.
If he wasn't and didn't do the Everton gloves thing and was a quiet as Randolph would people still be as deeply protective of him?
Unfortunately Adrian is a liability at times when he comes charging from his line and every time the ball is passed back to him I get palpitations. He has had poor form over time and when he was dropped for Randolph it was deserved. We just had a worse keeper in Randolph otherwise Adrian would not have regained the shirt.
Hart was a good punt but he is finished unfortunately and to be fair Adrian should have been no 1 for some time.
I agree he is not our biggest problem at the moment but I would like to see an upgrade eventually.

Both were crap against us too.Puff Daddy wrote: and so is Butland

I never got the love-in for old Thomas Turgoose at Sunderland, always looked bang average. Never seen him make a save that 99% of other GKs in the league wouldn't make. On top of that his game outside of shot stopping is pretty poor.Jumby wrote:Pickford is the biggest goalkeeper hype job ever
I personally thought Butland looked quality before his injury but not been the same since. Wouldn't touch either of them now personallyPuff Daddy wrote:

No, very consistent as a pointed out recently he is currently in great form conceded 1 in his last 3 with kumb.com rating him 8 out of 10 in each of those games.Mega Ron wrote:True.
The mistakes he does make though are pretty horrible
