Difficult isn't it. If you look to county form Jennings is an obvious choice, but we all know what happened last time.

You wonder if he has had his chance already.

We may as well start putting our entire one-day side out. It couldn't do any worse.

I have wondered if Morgan shouldn't captain the test side. Not sure about his batting but he would have some experience and authority.

Hmm, I remember Morgan being dropped from the test side, because he was more of an aggressive style batter and so wasn't as well suited to test cricket as the shorter forms. Something that seems a bit ironic at the moment...

Good point.

Just shows how desperate it all seems.
Come to think of it........ David Steele's only 76, and there's always Geoffrey's mum....

Is this the bloke that looks like a statue at the crease?

I bet Pakistan can't wait to get into this bloke.

Jennings was shocking in the England Test side but I understand he’s doing really well on the county circuit so it’s no surprise he’s got another call up.

Another South African eligible to play for England, I believe. The selectors obviously view this in a good light following in the footsteps of Messrs Strauss, KP, Prior, Trott etc.

We’re shifting back to the 90’s scenario of having plenty of players with talent, but not a cohesive unit of classwith the right temperament.
While the scattergun selection policy hasn’t reverted that era, it’s beginning to move towards that path.
Bowling wise as mentioned above. Jimmy can’t go on forever. Broad has been a consistent enigma for years, ranging for genuinely devastating and classy, to brainless and inept dependant on what side of bed he woke up on. Those waiting in the wings haven’t proved themselves and the likes of Jamie porter must have really offended someone.
We’re not had a decent spinner since Swann decided he couldn’t be bothered anymore. The Ali experiment went on far, far too long.
On the plus side we have about 4 quality batsman wicketkeepers.
He will get his chance very very soon... :hush:

Three changes for England, lose toss and Pakistan choose to bat. Some movement early on with Imam saved on review second over. Looks like a batting day though once you get through the 1st hour (something England are seemingly incapable of doing)

0-1 with Imam going for an England style ODI drive early on. Maybe it is catching.

96/7. Wickets tumbling. English bowlers looking rampant.

English batsmen looking on nervously?

26 runs in two overs, 141-8 now. A bit like in the winter, how many runs did the Aussies tail add? Need that killer instinct

174/9, a proper waggly tail and already setting a target that England's batters wont fancy. :P

ed - all out 174, a tall target for our top order.

Doesn't look like there'll be much play today. :(

26 wickets I think for Jimmy to become the best test seamer of all time.....

Root goes for his usual 45 odd. Hard to grumble too much when he always seems to get 40 plus most innings but his total inability to go on is bloody annoying.

Just goes to prove what the loss of early wickets and scoreboard pressure can do to a team. A complete role reversal from last week.

A lead of around 150-170 should be enough for us to level the series.

I’m surprised Curren was given out then. Personally I did think it was out and the correct decision has been made, but the soft signal was not out and was it conclusive that he got his fingers under it and it didn’t hit the ground to overturn it? Ultimately good to see the right decision made (imo) but will that consistently happen?

Currently leading by 159, would be good if Broad and Buttler can put on a few more which could completely put Pakistan out of the game.

50 up for Buttler too. I’ve been calling on his return to the rest team for a while now, glad he has grasped the opportunity with 2 half centuries in 3 innings. I still think he’d be a better keeper than Bairstow too, but JB hasn’t done anything wrong to have the gloves taken off him.
