I thought the very same thing. He'd be West Ham's greatest ever manager if he did ..... particularly if he did an interview afterwards!

The Sun has good sources, so I would not dismiss their story out of hand.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
Agree it was a statement of intent, and as such similar to the boards own previous claims about next level this that and the other (and available funds this window). The response from the club via C&H however indicates, yet again a potential lack of intent on the clubs part to match that of the manager they have appointed. There was smoke. Now some flames. The response has fanned them.goa127 wrote: The press have now jumped on the idea that our fans are frustrated with the board's lack of investment. His comment is really just a statement of intent, but is immeadiately presented as a major fallout. It may end up as that but it's just normal stuff at the moment.

This is what happens when you get a manager who isn’t simply grateful for being in employment. He’s not scared of speaking the truth, as he knows there are loads of clubs out there who would want him. That wasn’t the case with Bilic, Moyes, or pretty much any manager these clowns have ever employed.
Sully needs to open the chequebook, or Pellers will be off sharpish.

True - there was a newspaper report in Chile. But they will have checked the facts with their club sources.davids cross wrote:

Didn’t Moyes repeatedly dig out the board in his press conferences? He was a bit more diplomatic, but the message was clear.SullySpecial wrote:This is what happens when you get a manager who isn’t simply grateful for being in employment. In their own way, all 5 of the managers that have worked under this regime have diplomatically criticised the Board for their behavior.Ironing Board wrote: Didn’t Moyes repeatedly dig out the board in his press conferences? He was a bit more diplomatic, but the message was clear.

Seemed to side with the board after the Burnley match though...

A small point, and maybe it's just a translation thing, but I wonder who the 'we' are. We've got Pellegrini but apparently no DoF or backroom staff currently. I'm quite curious about who's involved. We are trying to get the owner to loosen up ...

Given the choice I'd be on Pellegrini's side.the celestial insect wrote: A small point, and maybe it's just a translation thing, but I wonder who the 'we' are. We've got Pellegrini but apparently no DoF or backroom staff currently. I'm quite curious about who's involved.

So he's given an interview to a Chilean newspaper, and the British press have picked it up, run it through Google translate and come up with this b*llocks.
Given us something to talk about I suppose and given them click throughs.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
Pellers wants to sign a "big name" - fair enough, but leaving aside the arguments about breaking pay-caps etc ,I would argue that whether or not a star player becomes a magnet for more stars, our manager just doesn't get the Board's m.o:.
1)The more that the "big name" costs, the less cash is left in the pot to spend in this window, regardless of what other stars suddenly decide that the club is worth joining.
2)No manager is likely to get another substantial transfer kitty unless results are spectacularly good and definitely not if one of the transfers doesn't work out.
3)I think that when Gold spoke about last year's horrendous injury list, he and Sully truly believe that the squad doesn't need much investment - just sign a "name" manager and, hey presto, he'll work his magic with the squad and it's "next level here we come".
