Little things in life that make you smile

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

Overpaying the mortgage. A more joyless and mundane thing to with your money, but I don’t think anything gives me greater satisfaction than saving up for a year only to reduce my repayments by about £50 a month.

She really has turned into an absolute joy on that show.[/quote]

I always thought she was quite a good little actress nailing the "Bimbo" act to a tee. It was only when she appeared on "I'm a celebrity" that I realised she is just playing herself!

Never watched it before but the BBC3 comedy, "This Country". It was the one where the bird's mum was threatening to give her Playstation to the starving Ethiopians.

"I'm just off to pick up some milk from Waitrose...."

90 minutes of doing hair and makeup, and three outfit changes later:

"OK, I'm going now, bye-eee....."

And that's just me.

This Country is brilliant comedy and vastly underrated, I’d encourage everyone to watch it, I love Mandy Harris in it.

Old blokes who still feel they’re the playground hard case. You’re not an intimidating tough guy, sir, you’re a haymaker or two away from a massive heart attack, so act accordingly.

Nah, witnessed a minor altercation on the (very busy) Thames towpath yesterday when a fat old bloke started on a kid in his late teens. Under normal circumstances, you'd expect the kid to defer, but in this case he was at least 6'3" and a burly 14 stone and just laughed in his face, further enraging old boy. Before it got nasty, someone intervened and suggested they both cool it, but you could tell by the body language, grandad was tempted to have a pop. Which would have ended badly for him.

Dan just has a deep seated regret for consistently allowing other bulldog tattoed blokes to take the piss out of him and pretty much out alpha him in public, which manifests itself in need to work out more than usual and play out fantasies of putting down 'hard cases' to other people on the internet.

I've seen him in real life - he's just a chubby bloke who wears Slazenger t-shirts.
