#2 Egypt 0-1 Uruguay ~ Group A

Or Atletico Madrid v Napoli

Egypt, just like Atleti, are capable of stifling teams and are the hipsters choice because of Mohamed Salah and Uruguay mirror Napoli, can play attractive, attacking football and are easy to admire

Expect Uruguay to get the better of this one. Not sure I'd rate Egypt as good as Atletico Madrid, they remind me more of us when we had Payet. One decent player, the rest look a bit better because of him but still always susceptible to getting tonked.

Taking half a day’s flexi to watch this one. Always had an inexplicable soft spot for Uruguay which I struggle to explain as they aren’t the most likeable team. Don’t think Egypt are mugs either. Looking forward to a decent match.

Based on absolutely nothing at all other than a dated opinion of how some South American teams play the game, I am fully expecting to see Uruguay kick little Mo up in the air for the first 15-20mins.

Expect to see them deploy a hatchet man to just smash into him, take a card and then come off when his job is done.

Doesn't surprise me tbh. I think Egypt will be looking at getting results against Russia and KSA, this is the game they are most likely to drop points in. Keeping Salah fit for the crucial matches will give them the best chance of progression.

Chances are they'll really sink their teeth into this one.

Those stand extensions, behind the goals.
We may have found a "football" stadium where the fans are further away than ours.

Interesting that the stadium has a perfectly round roof, yet they have managed to square it off at pitch level...

Take away the ridiculous temporary stand behind one end and its a decent little stadium.

A bit like a mini version of Marseille I guess.

Did anyone else seem surprised that Pearce and Keown thought Suarez had scored and was then wondering why it was disallowed.

Thought it seemed quite clear that he had hit the side netting.

Yep had a bit of a chuckle at that. Suarez has been awful, and the Egyptian player should have been booked for the blatant dive. Egypt have been slightly better but lack a cutting edge up front.

Very poor. They look sluggish and nervous. Cavani is the only one looking ok

Uruguay's #10 has looked good on the ball, reminds me of Lanzini in his style of play
