^^Yup

our only hope is for some proper east end billionaire to buy us, knock it down and build a proper stadium then build some old looking pubs outside, maybe a market too or something.

seriously though it needs so much money and work to make it a proper home for us, it's just so ****

Not sticking up for the place, but a question has to be asked. If a mega rich buyer bought us and the stadium and agreed to demolish and rebuild. Where are we going to play? bear in mind it must be large enough to accommodate 50.000 sth , away support and walk ups. Or are we going to a smaller place where 50% of sth will not be accommodated.

Where oh where will we play. and how you feel as a sth being told sorry your st isn't valid for our temporary home.

Would offering to rent Wembley at 50% of the asking price not work then? They say old habits die hard.

Will the claret astro turf not just resemble the running track from afar?

Is the purpose of it solely for aesthetics, or will it make the pitch seem smaller, with less green visible?

The extra green was supposed to be messing with the players’ perception of the size of the pitch etc.

Yet it never seemed to bother the opposition that much. And they only get to play on it once a year, whereas our players had 20 or so matches a season to get used to it.

I feel the whole perception argument is a load of bowlocks. Slav was looking for an excuse as to why his team were playing such crap football, and this was an easy option.

These players haven’t played and trained on pitches all their lives on pitches where the edge of it is clearly defined by another colour. Growing up they would have played in parks where there are back to back pitches. In training, they play in training grounds where there are back to back pitches.

Has any Sunday league footballer ever put in a crap cross and blamed the fact that there’s a bit too much green around? It’s nonsense.

It will make the stadium look a bit better, that’s for sure. But it won’t suddenly make our players hit free kicks and crosses without hitting the first man.

more to the point , perception didnt seem to hamper footballing giants like Watford, Brighton or Burnley who seem to adapt pretty well to the pitch when they came

A few players definitely mentioned the green as a problem. Also, anyone remember Swansea passing it into touch to a bubble machine a few times last season? Same thing.

We didn't give Ginge a new contract so that should help as well

It will look better, especially if it's actual fake turf and not that wanky taped down carpet.

The page has been deleted, I take it they agreed to change the green stuff round the pitch and if so will it be claret?

With the recent info about the colour of the astro turf around the pitch (whether it be true or not), I have an even better solution that will cost very little money. The cost of a few people to move the advertising hoarding.

Image

The OS hoarding as we all know is right up close to the stands, leaving a huge gap where the track is covered over.

It was the recent Champions League Semi Final between Roma and Liverpool that made me realise that we are missing a trick by not doing what they do at their monstrosity of a ground.

Image

They bring the advertising hoarding right up close to the pitch, leaving just enough for long throw in etc... They also have a second set of hoardings behind.

So is it just a case of moving our existing hoardings up close (which in turn helps the players know where the edge of the pitch is), or can we install a second set of hoardings? This must be cheaper than getting a different coloured astro turf.

The mind boggles how easy this would be, and why it hasn't already been done. The only issue I can think of would be the rake of the lower tier, and the very front seats having their view restricted slightly. Well that is their fault for sitting there. The team come first :D
