I wouldn't be upset with that. Certainly a hand full. Think he'd do well here

People saying "now we need a striker" ... did you ever trust Andy Carroll to be that guy to begin with?

I agree we could use another center forward but I thought that before this news came out. This changes nothing in my eyes. Carroll's been an unreliable sick note for 5 years.

Is there any kind of insurance for this that the club get, I wonder.

Of course not but it forces the boards hand a little more. Remember our annual injury crisis is purely unlucky according to dg.

I do find it funny that the club released an article a few days ago saying Carroll was "relishing" just the second full preseason he's had in 6 years at the club.

...then a few days later said he was out for 3 months with an injury. It's just so predictable.

To keep it on topic I agree with those who are saying Rondon would be a good and decently priced replacement.

The club will have to put a hold on any exits for Kouyate or Antonio.

Kouyate's versatility, experience and ability to actually be available almost every week is essential at the moment. Antonio can also do a decent job at CF.

Over reliance on Rice and Hernandez was a disastrous strategy last year.

Definitely need another senior CB and probably a striker in loan.

Fully expect the club to try and move Carroll on in January, even as a free.

Not sure this changes that much. Maybe cuts the budget some as neither can go out, but Carroll was probably 3rd choice at best for the front line, and Reid was in a general mix with a few other to be backup CB. Neither was someone I'd have expected to have a major role in the coming season

Salomón Rondón ... deary me we are just finally starting to show a tiny bit of ambition why would we want a striker that doesn’t score goals and doesn’t provide assists

Carroll actually has never been available for West Ham's 1st game of the PL season, in his loan year he was still at Liverpool but he has missed every single 1st PL game since he signed permanently for us.

Has there ever been a season where we have signed 7/8 players and there have been no flops or disappointments?
