I'm expecting this formation - choosing pace wide, packing a slightly stodgy middle to disrupt Liverpool as much as possible, we'll leave the front 1 or 3 a little isolated at times but hopefully with pace to hurt them on the counter-attack.

Going to be really tough and we'll need to defend much, much better than recent times, but the result is less important (imho) than being competitive against a very strong Liverpool side and setting a tone for this season's performances. 100% effort, no fear, and a little flair please lads.

----------------------- Adrian ----------------------
Fred ----- The General - Oggy ------- Arthur
--------------------Rice - Noble ------------------
----------------------Swindon----------------------
Antonio ------------------------------- Anderson
-----------------------Arnie-------------------------

Come on you Irons! :scarfer:

I know he's only just signed, but what about putting Sanchez alongside Rice?
It means either Noble or Wilshere misses out, but Liverpool attack in numbers. If there was ever a team we needed to double up against, it would be them (and Man City).

first day so u never know.

remember arsenal away?

I'm optimistic that we will play well so can take positives into the next game - they have few injuries at the back and I fancy us to score.

the pressure is on them to live up to being 'title challengers' so no pressure on us at all

I'm going 2-2

Although I agree with this in terms of the result, I do feel like we have pressure on us to perform and not get spanked!

Too many poor performances vs decent teams in the last 2 seasons & too many goals conceded.

1-1 for me. We will nick the first then get pegged back in the last ten whilst West Ham give me multiple heart attacks up to the final whistle.

Not having Balbuena being nicknamed the General. There was already a General.

It's like the no.6 shirt...out of commission.

I hope MP is working them hard on set-pieces - I reckon our best bet apart from an Arnie solo is our tricky new forwards winning free kicks around the box...

I can't see us winning this one, saying that I can't see us losing either. This has got an entertaining score draw written all over it.
They will come out swinging and go one up after 20 mins, we the plucky challenger will ride out the storm and grab an equaliser just after half time and hold out for the draw.
