Even if the four who are credited with writing it did write it, it was about 20-40 years after the fact.

Memories fade, change or even make up stuff (maybe not intentionally) ................

With A.D. 30 as ground zero, most scholars date Paul’s letters between A.D. 50 and 66, the first three Gospels between A.D.. 50 and 70, and John’s writings sometime between A.D.. 80 and 90. That makes the majority of the epistles and three of the Gospels dated only twenty to forty years after the death of Jesus.

Constantine convened the council to provide spiritual unity and a clear church position on an ongoing debate causing division within the newly Christianized Roman Empire. That debate was not about the New Testament but about the nature of Christ.

Specifically, the debate was about whether Jesus was coeternal with the Father, that is, if there was a time in eternity past when Jesus “was not.” No one at the council thought Jesus was just a man or a prophet. The debate was concluded with a 300-to-2 vote deciding that Jesus was coeternal with the Father. Thus the Nicene Creed affirms that Jesus was “one in being with the Father, begotten not made.”

So Constantine's council actually decided that Christ was actually the Son of God and then went on to put all of the papers together to prove their point ???

Church leader Irenaeus, writing in approximately A.D. 180, attested to the universally held scriptural status of the four Gospels, Acts, Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, 1 Peter, 1 John, and Revelation. That’s most of our New Testament.4

Then this other bloke nearly 200 years later decided that the Gospels were true depictions of Christ's life ?

Have I got this (fairly) correct ??????

I need a new waste trap for my kitchen sink.

This is the closest match that I've found

https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-app ... 40mm/95241" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However the old pipe (fitted before we moved in) has a marking on it saying '1.5 inches' or 38mm and the one I've found is 40mm.

Will I flood the kitchen if I buy this pipe?

It’s merely an attention seeking device and you’ll probably find that they have little substance or backbone.

I'm not sure.

The problem all started when the waste pipe came away from the sink without being unscrewed. I bought this
https://www.wickes.co.uk/FloPlast-WC08- ... m/p/431902" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but that screwcap, washer and seal were not wide enough.

I managed to connect it again with a washer and the existing screwcap. The same thing happened today, about a month later.

I made a mistake in my op, the screwcap says 1.5 inches not the pipe.

Why is it a (legal?) requirement to wear a seat belt in a car but not on a bus?

Have thought that too, specially as on some seats an emergency stop could smash your head into an upright rail. Maybe it's just not practical to force people to belt up for a short time.

I think you are right about people travelling short distances, and it would be almost impossible to enforce. The 'only a short journey' argument wouldn't stop a car driver from getting points on their license though.
