Behave, Carroll isn’t even compareable to Arnie as a striker.

Carrol was probably better in the air and possibly a better finisher at one point. Arnie has great skillz but has a tenancy to Kapow when through on goal...

Carroll is better in the air and Arnie is better at pretty much everything else.

Carroll is a very one dimensional player, whereas Arnie is extremely well rounded. His stats in the premier league are up there with Aguero, Kane etc for 2018, despite us being woeful for most of it, that’s some going.

Size - similar but Arnie physically seems more rhobust.
Speed - Arnie is rapid but Carroll is surprisingly quick before his body breaks down.
Skills - Arnie is better but Carroll is also good.
Attitude / Aggression - quite similar on field.

Arnie is just a constant menace.

Arnie’s pace, dribbling, movement, one touch passing, first touch and creativity are all significantly better than Carroll.

Carroll can play well in certain types of games and does have a worldie in his locker. However his mobility is poor, as is his acceleration meaning unsurprisingly his movement is rather poor and he doesn’t have the ability to stretch the game which means teams have to play very one dimensionally to get the best out of him.

He can't run the channels as well as Arnie either........

there is a much more accomplished "all round" striker in Arnie, whereas AC could be described as just a "striker."

Correct, one is a number 9 and the other other is a winger/attacking midfielder.

As much as I love Arnie and what he has been doing for us. He always has moments in games where you see he is not a natural striker.

Against Man Utd, they played McTommany at CB and how many times did Arnie pull on to him to exploit him? Any natural forward would have been trying to find him all game long.

Brighton, Bournemouth and Wolves all nullified him fairly easily, sit in tight, double up on him leave no space in behind.

If you’re a center back and you’re playing against West Ham and you see Carroll’s name on the team sheet you’re probably not looking forward to the next 90 odd minutes.

Let’s face it, if Carroll could stay fit and play 30 games a season, there is no way he would be playing at West Ham United.

All in my opinion of course, as I say, I love Arnie and the way he has that arrogance about him in his game, but he is not a natural striker.

I’ll put on my tin hat, as I know I’m about to dogs abuse.

By the end of the season Arnie will have scored more goals in 2 years than Carroll has in 5 years, one is a goalscorer one isn't.

and every time we played ManU they put Fellaini in front of him and a CB behind him and it was "Goodnight Vienna."

Arnie isn't a natural striker to be sure, but he has 5 times as much in his locker as Mr. Onedimensional...

When he scored.

Arnie is a bloody good striker, if we were to sell him we simply would not be able to find anyone even half as good. I cannot believe we have people knocking the bloke despite him scoring, assisting and being a generally all-round dangerous player and menace all whilst playing as a striker for the past year. His numbers are up there with some of the best players in the league ffs.

The frustrating thing is that we'll never know how good Carroll could have been. We've seen, on very rare occasions, Carroll perform effectively despite not having played or trained for months. He has almost unparalleled aerial ability, more skill than is often credited, and he can be very useful defensively. If he had been constantly fit and training, I think he would now be starting ahead of Kane for England*

*provided he secured a transfer to Spurs, of course.

I think Carroll was probably just a bigger more fragile Peter Crouch.

Crouchie was twice the player Carroll is.

And about 100 x more professional.

Some random wasteman gobs off about an ex-teammate for a few quid

Think Carroll deserves defending here, it’s an article based on some bloke he played with years ago and who appears to have no connection with him now

A complete non-story

Rangers comments about Carrol sneaking out and busting his leg have been repeated on here a fair few times.

I rate Andy Carroll and don't believe he is one-dimensional. He can see the game developing and can find a killer ball when he has dropped deep. He reads the game really well. He is a monster in the air.

I think Arnie is rightly our main striker (albeit a converted winger) but, as others have pointed out, he can be nullified. Of course Carroll can also be nullified, but as Georgie pointed out earlier Carroll as a plan B at the moment gives us more than Antonio.

I really hope to see Carroll back in the team soon.
