Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
we have to go all out for this one as it is a big chance for us to get nearer winning something. burnley on Saturday is important but we have only a small squad left so most will have to play 2 games .
I hope arnie is back for this one. if we can get 2 up take him off asap.
spurs must play a weakened team but we also have to play a weakened team due to injuries.
is noble suspended for this one ?
Adrian
fredericks diop balbuena cresswell
rice obiang masuaka
diagana arnie snoddy
subs fab zab ogbonna antonio hernandez coventry powell
antonio on for arnie second half
hard fought 1-0 arnie.

Absolutely no atmosphere last Saturday. The match had no feel for a West Ham v Spurs game.
I hope that given the right atmosphere and with Arnie in a kit from the start, we'll sort this lot out.

We might get away with having no midfield against Leicester, but not against this lot. Even Spurs young players know how to play. If we get to penalties it will be a good result personally.

Not sure he will risk Obiang with Noble now being banned.
This will be tight and I think we will somehow just shade it.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
Are both Zabaleta and Noble suspended for this? I am sure I saw a 5 inside the yellow that was screened, when the former was booked yesterday.
If that is the case, this is Operation Shake Dem Bare Bones, especially if Arnautovic's virus proves more resilient than Jack Wilshere.
So
Adrian
Fredericks
Diop
Ogbonna
Cresswell
Diangana
Rice
Snodgrass
Obiang
Anderson
Antonio / Hernandez
(I'd probably start Mike, but expect to swap him for H sometime in the 2nd half).
Has a familiar vibe to it as the famous 1-2 at WHL, if you look back at the odds and sods side we had to play in that fixture. - i.e. I can't say I am confident, but, by the same token, we showed some spirit and fight yesterday and I hope some can permeate into this fixture too.

Strongest 11 as possible for this one. Tottenham don't want it because Pochettino only targets 'real trophies' like the Champions League and the Prem.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
I presume Zabaleta's game ban counts for this game? Shame if true as not only would he start the game, but he is the only other leader we have and for me would be wearing the armband while Noble is out. Be interesting to see who will captain if Arnie doesn't make it. But hopefully Fredericks will be fired up for it as Spurs did sell him in the 1st place. So you'd like to think he has a point to prove.
1 change I do expect Pellegrini to make, which I don't agree with is, I think Adrian will keep his place in goal, as he has done in the cup so far. Pellegrini does seem to stick with the Cup keepers no matter how far he goes in the competition. He did at Man City when they won this very cup with Willy Caballero in goal. I am not a fan of this personally. I don't mind Adrian in goal against lower League opposition, or even teams near the bottom of the Premier League. But getting further in the competition I think you should absolutely pick your strongest Keeper, let alone team.
I think Arnie will be back. If not, then I have a feeling Antonio will come in for Hernandez. And after his 2 subs appearances he deserves it to be fair.
I would keep Diop, Rice and Diangana in the team too, as they are all young and can easily play 2 games in a week. Not 100% ideal for Rice mind when he is the only fit defensive midfielder we have for the rest of the season.
I have a horrible feeling he'll bring Ogbonna in for Balbuena too. But I certainly wouldn't do that.
Maybe Cresswell will come in for Masuaku too.
Pellegrini won't do it sadly, as he has a,ready confirmed he won't be back until after the next Internstional break. But I would even cheekily put Carroll on the bench as Spurs have been very shaky with set pieces this season. And if we are chasing the game he'll give their defence something to think about.
It'll be interesting to see if Obiang will walk straight back in the team as we have no one else to play there, or whether he'll save him for Burnley. I personally would play him as we are not far away from another international break anyway if he is struggling. And Noble misses 2 'League games' after this (Burnley & Huddersfield). Maybe if Pellers believes Spurs will pick more kids he may be brave enough to pick Joe Powell too.
Will Lord Lucan Perez make an appearance on the bench too? Or will he be too busy recovering watching another American football game at Wembley?
This is the team I think we will go for pending on Arnie and Obiang being okay:
-------------------------------------Adrian-------------------------------------
-Fredericks-------------Diop--------------Ogbonna--------------Cresswell-
--------------------------------------Rice--------------------------------------------
----------------------------Obiang---------Snodgrass---------------------------
-Diangana-----------------------Arnautovic------------------------Anderson-
Subs: Fabianski, Balbuena, Masuaku, Powell, Antonio, Hernandez, Perez.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
I expect to see us field a weakened team for this.
Wilshere, Noble, Sanchez, Lanzini, Yamolenko all missing, leaving our first team with just Obiang, Snodgrass, Rice and Anderson as midfielders .
Is the manager going to risk the 4 fit ones ?
I'm expecting a maximum of two of those 4 to start.
A nailed on defeat I'm afraid, the squad is just too thin.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
TBF, Rice Snodgrass and Obiang are, on present form, our three best midfielders.
A front three of Arnie, Hernandez and Antonio should have enough to trouble them, it did in the league game.
We have more than enough, even with 7-8 changes, to be very robust and competitive. They play Man City tomorrow night.

Antonio ——Hernandez —Arthur
I think this line up could do a lot, more protection for full backs aswell

I don't think Zab is suspended for this game. The 5 shown on the yellow card is his squad number not the amount of bookings he's had.

I was concentrating on something else, at the time, and only saw it in passing.
If he can play, that will be a bonus; he's done pretty well recently, even in the attacking sense.
Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
with them playing man city 48 hours before, I can see them playing a second string team so hopefully we play our strongest team available stuff them and build confidence through the team
