Newcastle Utd 0-3 West Ham Utd (01/12/18)
K/O 3pm
Almost a 6 pointer?
Two teams very closely matched, so far. Odds on to be a draw really, but I quite fancy an away win.

Score draw at best, they'll be up for it and we won't.
Most likely concede an early goal too.

This is a real test for us. a team that will be up for it after our thumping at home.
at least it will be an interesting game and competitive.
fab
zab diop Balbuena cresswell
Snodgrass rice obiang
diagana Arnie Anderson
subs Adrian ogbonna masuaka noble Antonio Hernandez carroll
Arthur to come on as a LW only unless cresswell gets injured or having a mare!
drop perez from squad as he is useless.
2-0 hammers and back on track. arnie and Anderson

Re: ⚽ Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd: match thread (01/12)
Nailed on defeat I'm afraid. Even with Arnie, which I don't think he'll make.
Our record there is appalling and I just think a lot of our weaknesses at the back is their strengths. Our centre halves are very poor in the air defending corners and free kicks. The likes of Rondon will have a field day. And we struggle to score goals.
I will be gobsmacked if we win, let a lone draw. But hopefully the team can prove me wrong as if we want to do better in the League we really need to be beating these type of teams.
It's a shame our only back up centre half is Italy's answer to Titus Bramble as truth be told I would be tempted to drop one of Balbuena (my preference), or Diop. They're not keeping clean sheets so why do they deserve to play week in week out when they are letting the team down?
So we'll have to stick with them. It's an unpopular opinion but I think we may get away with playing Masuaku at left back against these, as they playing quite defensive and slow anyway, so having a player of Masuaku's pace 'could' help us. But I expect Cresswell to play now. Especially as Masuaku showed a lack of commitment to that position after the game with one of his responses to a supporter.
It'll be interesting if Noble walks back in the team or not. As Pellegrini could at least hide behind the formation we played against Man City as an excuse not to play him. It'll be pretty telling if he doesn't play again.
As long as Arnie is fit I'd like to pretty much see the same team we played against Burnley, as I thought attacking wise especially it was our best one of our best performances. Snodgrass will be available again.
Shame Carroll has only just returned as I would've put him in the team for Arnie if he isn't fit. Especially as he would at least do a better job defending set pieces than our centre halves and midfield.
So I would begrudgingly put Antonio in for him. In the hope he may actually surprise as and start hitting the target.
My team, injuries permitting:
-----------------------------------Fabianski------------------------------
-Zabaleta----------Balbuena----------Diop-----------Cresswell-
--------------------------------------Rice---------------------------------
-----------------------Obiang---------------Snodgrass----------------
-Diangana--------------Arnuatovic/Antonio--------------Anderson-
Subs: Adrian, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Noble, Wilshere, Carroll, Hernandez.

A point up their would do me as well. We have not got a good record at all up there.
Just the 1 win in our last 14 trips to Newcastle.
Just the 4 wins in our last 26 trips to Newcastle.
Just the 9 wins in any of our overall 67 visits to Newcastle
Plus of course they have just hit forum at exactly the right time.
1-1 would be great, But I see 3-1 to them.

We can't keep a clean sheet, so we are going to be up against it and this at a ground where we traditionally struggle

We were soundly beaten up there last season and I'd be surprised if the outcome isn't the same this year -though I'd hope/expect us to give them more of a game.
As is usually the case with West Ham, i'm travelling more in hope than expectation.

Don’t really understand why people think we will be “soundly beaten” by Newcastle?
I admit I am not confident about the final result, however based on what I’ve seen this season they are nothing to be frightened of
Just take the game to them

I know we haven't done well against Newcastle in recent seasons but this is the Pellegrini Revolution and we look so much better -

Tbh I wouldn't bet on us beating any team in the league at the moment. Can't keep a clean sheet and a complete lack of creativity in central midfield. I fear for us, I really do.

1-0 loss the useless Japanese striker Muto will score
In all seriousness we're probably going to get massively counter attacked by Kennedy, Rondon, Perez, Atsu, hopefully we can get an early goal and force them to commit a bit otherwise can see this being very frustrated against a defensively oriented team and we always leak a goal.
