West Ham Utd 0-2 Watford (22/12/18)
My first game of the season coming up from Cornwall.
I’d swap obiang for Noble as my only change. Noble played some excellent passes but also some suicidal ones yesterday. Also obiang’s athleticism improved us no end when he came on.
Really feel we need a fist choice midfield partner for Rice in Jan.
3-1 to the cockney boys.

They appear to be a slightly different proposition to the team we've played in recent years - smaller, more technical with Pererya, Quina, Delofeu in their midfield/attack.
Their form is also the opposite of ours - 4 wins in the first 4 games, but only 12 points from the last 13.
This game has also been one of the more entertaining ones at Stratford in the last couple of years and with top 6 as the possible prize this should be a humdinger .
I've had a few doubts about our CBs/CMs in the last few games and this lot are better going forward than those we've recently defeated so a tweak or two might be in order. Mitrovic bullied Balbuena all through the first half yesterday - Deeney up next week, while our midfield needs to be alert to the runs and movement of Delofeou and Pererya.

First and foremost, enjoy the gameMy_Sobriquet wrote:My first game of the season coming up from Cornwall.

However whilst Noble did play one bad pass in our own half it wasn't quite as spectacular as Obiang forgetting where he - and the ball - was, allowing it go out of play after he came on. I thought the poor bloke had some form of mental break.
I'd stick with the same 11.
Tough game but I reckon we could nick it; 1-0 and Hernandez to get it.

This one unlocks a real long winning run. I think it's the most difficult of all of our next 5 matches, but I'm still going for a comfortable 3-0 Irons win

think this will be our hardest match since City by quite some distance, they will come and have a good go i'm sure. I'd be tempted to play Creswell for this one if he's fit enough for it although will trust Pellers decision

Re: ⚽ West Ham United vs Watford FC: match thread
This has been the one in our 'easy run' that I've been a bit worried about. To me, they've been one of our more recent bogie-teams but we did beat them here in February.
A home (& a straight 5th) win would be a VERY welcome, early Christmas present.

Five wins on the bounce to take us past Man Utd.
When was the last time we won five on the bounce?

Last time we won 5 in the row in the league was under Pardew, where we also won 2 in the cup during the run.
The run consistented of:
1 Aston Villa vs West Ham 2 (Zamora & Harewood)
2 West Ham vs Fulham 1 ( Ferdinand & Benayoun)
2 Arsenal vs West Ham 3 (Reo-Coker, Zamora & Etherington)
2 West Ham vs Sunderland 0 (Ashton & Konchesky)
3 West Ham vs Birmingham (Harewood x2 & Ashton)

Watford coming to attack us will help us. The counter-attack is our biggest weapon. Snodgrass’ goal magnifies that. Rice, Noble, Anderson, Snodgrass back to front in seconds.

as a slight aside and talking about back to front in as many seconds...
Pique got the ball in his own box played a pass and kept motoring. got it back played another ball and kept going. Messi ends up taking a couple of interchanges passes it to Pique who neatly steps around the ball, fakes the defender and sticks it away.
smiles all around..goal number 5.

hope Diop or The General does something similar next Saturday. this place would go into meltdown !!!!!!!
