Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
I would say the Oyston family are a closer comparison to make when it comes to the type of owners we have.
Although the wheels are coming off a bit lately the Glazer's have actually let people who know what they are doing build the Man Utd brand and bring in operating income to levels it did not have before. They are a very successful football club that has continued to build on that success.
The Glazer's have used the club as a real money spinner but they have actually done something to earn it. They aint just grabbing the sky money and doing little else like our lot. Our bunch of spivs sit back and milk the club for all it is worth. Look at the two bob sponsorship deals lady muck has achieved. Low rent betting companies, alternative investment companies and the a tourist board. Their vision of building the brand is self promote themselves in the most vulgar manner. We encounter incompetence at every level in the club. No one in their right mind would trust them, the lack of transparency and concerted attempts to manipulate the media is there for a reason. Our club was once respected. Now, thanks largely to them we are not. Pellegrini is a decent man but the stench from above always lingers.
I am convinced it was only once the heat got turned up pre and during Burnley that they realised they had been well and truly outed for what they are.. They were frightened in the directors box that day, they will do well not to forget; we wont. Or rather many of us wont but there is an increasing soft underbelly to our support that seems to be so shallow these days. They see winning a few football games and signing players as some miracle that we must be ever thankful to the spivs for.

Bloody hell this post has got me going.....Bobby Moore Out wrote:
However, no matter how much you hate them, it is only fair to acknowledge when they get something right, even if it is self-serving; not to do so is blinkered and dishonest and inconsistent with demanding that they deal honestly with us.
We have a problem in that the fan base, taken as a whole, hardly covered itself in glory last year. Due to the actions of a few, we were seen as divided, unruly at the risk of public safety, abusive (to each other!) and of doubtful integrity (what DID happen to the Isla money?).
I'm not a big fan, but if I were an East Ender I'd still prefer them over a Russian oligarch or a Saudi prince wit a dodgy record in human rights.
Recognising they have got something right... let's hang out the bunting, it's disgusting and makes me nauseous that our owner feels the need to bang his self important drum, whilst doing what he should be doing... And let's have it right, if he had done the job the right way he should have nailed down Declan last summer... Fine, well done on finally getting a couple of decisions right, but let's not lose sight of the colossal f*** up's they've made that have seen us sell our home and play football in a temporary lego stadium not fit for football...
As for the fans not covering itself in glory, forget about the RW b*llocks, the fan base was unhappy with being lied to constantly and treat with disdain, the fact that the club (Brady and Sullivan), managed to divide the supporters who were angry is nothing short of disgraceful and should never be shrugged off, they did that and continue to do so, let's not deflect it onto a long suffering fan base!
Do you honestly believe if the fans hadn't protested, that they would have spent 100m in the transfer window? Of course not, they would have continued to do the bare minimum
As for human rights and owners, well I suppose being Dildo selling porn barons, profiteering on the back of a dead porn star is ok with some, certainly not with me bud....
****ing rewriting history annoys the **** out of me....

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
Ozza - just one question because you also mentioned this on the Rice thread, but why should they have nailed down his contract offer in the summer?
They did offer him a contract which he turned down. What they offered at the time was reasonable given his situation as a young squad player in a mid table club. It is now obvious that both sides have been working on the contract over the last couple of months whilst Rice's credentials have continued to rise, and they have reached an agreement.
If Rice had signed a contract in the summer on , say 20k a week, his agent would probably be looking for a renegotiation already
The owners are corrupt c**** but I can't see what they have done wrong with the Rice contract situation. If anything they have played it very very well to get him tied down for as long as they have

Maybe Crouchy, either way we shouldn't be lauding Sullivan for doing his job it's ridiculous, and then let's not forget the clubs mouthpiece talking about the details of the contract earlier this year openly on his forum..

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
Let's see how ambitious they really are this Janaury transfer window. Will they give Pellegrini what he wants at all cost to make sure we get a Europa League place? Or will they make every excuse in the book again and we waste another season?

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
The trouble is that they're like Americans: finally doing the right thing after exhausting all the other possibilities.
My view is that the only thing they've done in the decade that they've owned the club that will move us forward is to appoint Pellegrini. I've got quite a lot of time for both Moyes and Allardyce as 'necessary evils' but, those guys only got us out of the **** that we shouldn't have been in in the first place.
I think the next two transfer windows will be the acid test. If we buy the players we all know we need, I'll grudgingly admit that they might have learnt their lesson. However, I suspect they'll revert to type and we'll bring in the usual serial sicknotes and players who were good ten years ago.

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
A young player comes through the ranks, grabs his first team opportunity with both hands, becomes an integral part of the first team, is then remunerated accordingly...…….
Signing Declan Rice to a new deal is a complete non story, a red herring but made into an ongoing saga by the club and his signing it, very conveniently timed!
When discussion turns to who we didn't sign in January, Declan Rice will be the first name mentioned by G and S.
There's method and spin behind everything this lot does.

Indeed - although Allardyce would've never ended up at West Ham had they not appointed the useless Avram Grant.Clucking Bell wrote:I've got quite a lot of time for both Moyes and Allardyce as 'necessary evils' but, those guys only got us out of the **** that we shouldn't have been in in the first place.
Chelsea's ranks initially, but yes. The worrying thing here though is that Rice's emergence may render Sullivan even less likely to invest in the Academy, given his penchant for bulk buying from other clubs (Rice, Samuelsen etc), rather than internally developing our own local youth (Oxford, Diangana etc).happydaystoytown wrote:A young player comes through the ranks, grabs his first team opportunity with both hands, becomes an integral part of the first team, is then remunerated accordingly...

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
UTJ, understand your concerns but he was only 14 when he came to us, so the academy still had a hand in his development.
Sully will always take a punt, whether they're 14 or 34, it's in his nature.
My point was, I'm sure settling the Rice contract charade will be used by the club when discussing the January window.

Thought your view about the timing of Rice's contract signing was pretty much bang on, lovely bit of Razzle Dazzle as the Jan window opens.... expect Gold to trot out FFPhappydaystoytown wrote:UTJ, understand your concerns but he was only 14 when he came to us, so the academy still had a hand in his development.

he already trotted that line out over at * & * when talking about the very same Declan Rice "we can't give everyone a raise just because they want one...besides we've lost 40M and there FFP to consider."Ozza wrote:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that it boils to those that have some degree of intelligence and those that dont. For those in the former category, it is clear to see what these owners are all about. Two main things to note:
1. They are not fans of the club. FFS they were dancing and cheering sending us down in ‘03. How the f*** can they be fans?!
2. Every single decision they make is to benefit them and noone else - especially not the long term future of West Ham United Football Club or the fans.
Please be under no illusion. The sooner they are out, the better.

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???
Owners, imo, should be not seen & not heard & should just get on with doing their job.
We don't support them; we support the club & the players.
That thing that A. Swallow mentioned in March about something good happening in 9 months time (December). Unless it's happening in the next two days, have I missed it already?
Perhaps he just meant Christmas..
