Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.
Some excellent side gurns there, as well as some nicely-executed "scream the high note" work. Trower has the better teeth-baring work, and that "Rio Ferdinand top lip overbite" thing he does.
Talking of gurning bass players, this reminds me of when Primal Scream played Glastonbury, at a time when Mani (ex-Stone Roses) had been taken on as part of the band.
There had clearly been some shenanigans back-stage, reference 're-fuelling', as one would, of course, expect with this band, but Mani came out as if he was coming up on something so poky that he was practically holding onto his bass for dear life! We were watching it at home, practically helpless with laughter.
Went to see them when they were touring Screamadelica and the next LP, both times at Brixton. On one night, they levelled the floor, to make it more of 'a club experience' and had a late licence.
Brixton Academy holds many lovely memories, but few as fond as those nights.
