Cracking game from him today.

That late interception on Lacazette on the 6 yard line was sublime.

He was all over breaking up play, and the goal was icing on the cake.

Declan has done a few 'Bobby Moore Tackles' this season and he is like nothing I have seen in my lifetime watching West ham. He really is that good.
I am so pleased for him today and the interview with Mark afterwards left me with something in the eye.
The team should be built around him as others have said. He is that influential.
Arnie and the whatever shenanigans paled into nothing today as our boy showed what is more important.
Arnie can be replaced with ease and for good money. Declan Rice is irreplaceable.
He will be a West Ham legend.

He has the look of a hardened Paddy alright. Over here in Dublin we'd call him "Dekkoh"

Moving him from CB to DM is the making of him.

His rate of progression has accelerated enormously.

At this stage he is a good chance to join Mervyn Day and Tony Cottee as a winner of the Young player of the year. Worth putting a few bob on.

If you’ve recorded the match, rewatch the final whistle. Declan damned near jumped out of the stadium with joy. It very much reminded me of Nobes when he scored his first.

A Bilic call if I remember correctly?
It was originally and I noticed it myself at a very early stage it was the right call because I felt playing CB was holding part of his game back. He was too good to just defend, he appeared to have something more by way of an expansive passing range, drive on the ball and dominating midfield which is the key battle of all. Control the midfield third, then you control games and win a lot of games which we have been doing. There were many who couldn't quite see it and felt he should be focusing on becoming a CB but I'm glad both Bilic and Pellegrini now resisted the temptation to do it. That's not to say he can't fill-in on occasions, he can and he will have the occasional error in him, which he just doesn't have in the middle. He's one of the rare ones who comfortable to have the play all around him and remain composed and his awareness to sniff out danger is very evident. The icing on the cake is he is very technically gifted too, where he can produce cultured first time finishes under pressure like he did in the box.

It was Martin o’Neil
Along with John terry I’ve never seen someone who is so positionally aware which makes it look so easy for him. An absolute freak when it comes to the dirty stuff that most players like to avoid.
It’s a joy to watch him progress

I first remember Bilic trying Declan Rice out as a DM in a friendly against Man City, so you can trace it back to as early as that moment when Bilic was first contemplating him as a DM and for me he stood out as being quality at it then. Think he brought him on in midfield away to Man Utd too early in the League.

This boy is different gravy. If he was 26,we'd all be raving over him but he is 19.If he continues on this path,we are talking genuine world class.I haven't seen a West Ham player this good at that age including Ferdinand,Cole,Slater,Dickens. With all respect to Moore,Brooking,Bonds and Devonshire, this boy has the potential to be the best West Ham player ever.

Pretty sure I remember Bilic saying on whufc.com that DM worked well for young defenders like Rice as it protects them somewhat from mistakes leading to goals. That and Rice had the talent to do so.
