Why are M.P`s referred to in Parliament as "my right honourable colleague", there`s nothing honourable about any of them toerags?

Something to do with the presumption that everyone's always telling the truth and being honest. If they don't work on that basis, even less gets achieved, as everyone spends all day accusing each other of lying.

"Honourable" is an ordinary MP, "Right honourable" refers to members of the Privy Council.

Yes, GSTQ is a bit naff, I grant you - I'd prefer JERUSALEM or maybe I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY.

Mind you, the only other country's tune I like is THE MARSEILLAISE - but the lyrics are particularly gruesome.

Well yes, most anthem lyrics are b*llocks aren't they? La Marseillaise is all about forming battalions to stop the invading Austrians and Prussians slitting the throats of their kids. Totally relevant before a rugby match.

Most are the same though. The US anthem is about a bloody flag. Ours is about how ****ing great our Queen is. The jocks sing about a flower, the Irish about potatoes, the welsh about hating the English. The German one is about invading other countries. Italy's is about surrendering.

All those other ones have better tunes though. I like the French and US ones. They got a good beat to them. Ours is ****ing boring. Jerusalem would be a better anthem.

I love or national anthem. Belted it out in 1980 at Wenbley and it still sends shivers down my spine thinking back to that day.

Also love the way the Americans do theirs when they time a fly past of jet fighters to coincide with the finish at big sporting events.

Our dirge goes on about the monarchy more then the country, which then becomes a problem if you're a patriotic republican. It's well overdue a rewrite IMO.....
