Re: Declan Rice
Well that's asking a slightly different question, getting the best fee from a transfer. Of which I still think they're not terrible, nor are they brilliant at maximising a sale. But I do still believe they're good at keep our best players and ain't looking to flog them as soon as they walk through the door to make a mint. In the examples you gave, it's been the players that have driven a move, not the other way around which says a lot.

Now, now, do refrain from bringing facts into this discussion.Longaz wrote:Parker won player of the year and we got relegated, it would have been unrealistic to expect him to stay.
Ba signed when we already looked doomed, probably wouldn't have signed without the release clause.
Payet? Should we have kept him and let him stink out the place? We 've kept Arnie (for now) and amany have said we should have taken the money.
Other than Man City has any other club not sold 3/4 of there better players over the last 8 years?
Look at Hazard at Chelsea, if he wants to leave - he's gone. Courtinho, Suarez, Sterling at Liverpool. Arsenal the list is endless, All Clubs with more money than us, but if a player wants to leave, what to do?

Even if Levy worked his usual magic and got him for double that (70 Million) from SullyColours never run wrote:Daily Express
Tottenham are plotting a £35m summer move for West Ham starlet Declan Rice.
Dream on ****ers.
You just know Levy would sell him 3 years later for 170 Million and Sully wouldn't have put in any sell on clause.

Re: Declan Rice
Interesting post on the official site.
https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/201 ... sir-trevor
Geno is telling Rice to do exactly the same thing with Lanzini that Geoff Pike did with Geno 40 years ago - when he wins the ball, push it forward quickly into space just wide of the playmaker to turn and run. Geno implies that Rice isn't currently doing that anywhere near enough to get the best out of Lanzini. Given that Lanzini and Rice have barely played together it's early doors yet but this appears to be a case of Geno telling Rice - and Pellegrini - what to do. Don't disagree with what he's saying.

Re: Declan Rice
Interesting too that he names Lanzini as his favourite player. Not that it's that surprising given his own way of playing, but ex-pros have a tendency to hedge (and/or say Noble).

Said that in match thread. Him and Fab to be fair.Vienna wrote:I think Declan is the only player that can hold his head up. after that today.

Re: Declan Rice
Our best outfield player but obviously that’s not saying much. His passing was still wayward and positionally he wasn’t as solid as usual. Though he made some good tackles and hit the post.Vienna wrote:I think Declan is the only player that can hold his head up. after that today.

Re: Declan Rice
It was his worst game for us today but then he was in bad company.Never really shone but at least he registered a decent effort .
He will have and has had much better days.

Re: Declan Rice
Surely that's meant as a dig at Rice?
I wouldn't be too happy though if I was a young Irish player..

Re: Declan Rice
Fair play to The Irish for giving him the award and maintaining the integrity of the vote. The FAI has disclosed this afternoon that Declan Rice, who recently switched allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to England, has won the Young Player of the Year award at the FAI International Awards.
The West Ham midfielder earned three senior international caps for Ireland in 2018, appearing in friendlies against Turkey, France and USA.
He subsequently opted out of the squad ahead of the competitive Nations League fixtures in the autumn and, following a protracted saga, finally announced intention to declare for England last month.
Despite this, his performances in a green shirt in 2018 saw him earn enough votes to claim the Young Player of the Year award for 2018.
While the rest of the winners will be announced on the night, the FAI released a statement this afternoon saying Rice had won in the young player category.
The FAI noted that the award was voted on by members of the SSE Airtricity Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland and pointed out that at the time of said vote, Rice was still an Irish international.
In the statement, the FAI said this outcome "maintains the integrity of the voting process." They confirmed that Rice would not be in Dublin to collect his award.
"At the time of the vote, Declan Rice was an Ireland international and qualified for the Young Player category in a year that saw him win three senior caps, all in '3' International Friendly games.
"Declan Rice has since opted to switch his allegiance to England. The FAI has completed his international transfer via the FIFA protocols and wishes him well in the future.
"This award maintains the integrity of the voting process in conjunction with the Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland and the FAI thanks the jury members for their decisions relating to the awards.
"Declan Rice will not be in Dublin for the '3' FAI International Awards ceremony."
The ceremony will be broadcast live on RTÉ2 on Sunday 17 March at 8.30pm.

Re: Declan Rice
The vote was cast before he declared for England.
No digs at Rice or other Irish players. They were probably hoping he wouldnt have declared yet and this would give him an Irish incentive.
