Re: the New kits thread
Haha, it was an old mock up that I did with a few quick amendments, no time to make a loose fitting one.
I'm a firm believer of shirts being for the players and kids only anyway, never been a fan of full grown adults wearing replica kits.

With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if we tried something a bit left of field this season.

Re: the New kits thread
The kit we have for the 20/21 season kit will be very traditional and have a special badge to mark our 125th anniversary. The fans will be consulted (heard that before) about amendments to the badge on the back of that.HammerMan2004 wrote:Aren't we supposed to be redesigning the crest again at some point?
I'd really like to see the wording taken off it, just do the plain crossed hammers in a shield. The formatting of the wording has bugged me since it was put inside the shield and 'London' can sod off too.
With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if we tried something a bit left of field this season.

As someone else has said, dont see the point in a 3rd kit though!

Could be worse....
Shocking pink goalkeeper shirt as worn by the Spanish side Loja CD, as they compete in the Tercera División, the sponsorship deal with local frozen food firm Apolo sees Loja’s shirts once again being covered in prawns graphically displayed on a bed of ice.

Too many sponsors, ruins the shirt.

Re: the New kits thread
Looking at the picture of Dev wearing the kit in '78 that I posted a few days ago, the comment from Ex that the stripes are narrower makes sense. They're not that wide on the originally probably don't cover much more than the middle third of the blue section.

Re: the New kits thread
The away shirt is a bit on the dull side without the collar for my taste.
Quite liked it with the chevrons actually, would have been one of my all time favourites if came out as designed.
Round collars with claret and blue always look messy and a bit naff in person, one or the other unless there is a collar to fill out the image.

funky chicken wrote:Ex on tonight's show said the kit is very similar to the designs that have been shown. But the blue stripes are a bit thinner.
He reckoned we may have a claret shorts and socks. Which I hope isn't true. But part of the reason is because the away kit is apparently based on the famous all white kit we wore for the 1980 FA Cup.
3rd kit is very dark blue.
Re: the New kits thread
Wasn't sure about the mock up of the home kit that was floating around a couple of days ago. Much prefer this version (for some reason, as they are pretty much the same).griff123 wrote:This guys mock up of the new kits look quite good

Re: the New kits thread
I think the all claret home kit has some potential. I am probably going against the crowd here but I have never been a fan of the white shorts and socks in the home kit anyway, always preferred it when we have claret top and light blue shorts and socks.

I never liked the original Chevron striped home kit to be fair. Revolting imo.
I only wear Adidas in any case. So until we go back I wont be buying it

Re: the New kits thread
I am 100% in the white shorts camp. I prefer white socks but am fine with claret socks if the shorts are white. I'm sorry, that claret chevron kit Sutts put together looks like a marvel superhero's summer wear. No claret shorts for West Ham.

Re: the New kits thread
Neither did I, thought it was horrible and one of our worst kits ever. However, I do like the new versions. No claret shorts for me eitherHugh Jargon II wrote:I never liked the original Chevron striped home kit to be fair. Revolting imo.

Re: the New kits thread
I've never liked the chevrons either. Along with the Pony attempt to replicate them, they were easily up there with the worst home kit designs we have had.
The stand out worst being THAT Bukta effort of course.
I'd always prefer us to have white shorts and socks that matched an away white shirt as opposed to messing around with our home colours. Seems to just be a modern trend though. Almost as though designers need to prove they can think outside the box.

Re: the New kits thread
I didn't mind the70's chevron, but I wasn't happy when they trotted out at Heysel wearing a version of it. I think I probably blamed it at the time for that result. I was 11. That's how my mind worked then.

Re: the New kits thread
If it's done properly, it'll look stylish as f*** and very unique without it looking naff, which is after all what we as a Club should be all about. I'm hopeful it'll look the part if murmurings about what it'll look like come true.
One thing I like so much about Umbro in general is they do make an effort with us to produce unique kits and try to respect our traditions at times as well. We have a long proud history with them and more than happy they've extended the contract with us. I can think of a lot worse kit makers out there and in this day and age of constant naff designs, they hold up well making a fair few quality ones. Hopefully they do us proud once again for the next 2 seasons culminating in our anniversary kit/Crest design.
